Tessa Kalfell began as the NWC intern in July 2011 with the responsibilities of posting Student-Athlete of the Week Awards, coordinating Conference Championship materials, assisting S-AAC, as well as other miscellaneous duties assigned by the commissioner. Beginning in January 2012, Kalfell took over the Conference Sports Information Director duties which includes updating conference statistics, standings and schedules, as well as making reports to the National Collegiate Athletics Association.
A product of Whitefish, Montana, Kalfell received her bachelor's degree in sport management from Rocky Mountain College in 2009. She received her master's degree in sport administration and leadership from Seattle University in June.
Prior to her internship with the NWC, Kalfell coached freshman girl's basketball, interned at the University of Washington athletic department with olympic sports operations, and most recently interned in the Seattle Storm's communication department.
