NWC Men's Basketball Player of the WeekFeb. 20NWC Player of the Week: Zack McVey (UPS, Sr., F, Woodinville,
Wash. - Woodinville HS) led the Loggers to a pair of NWC title clinching
victories by scoring 53 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. He was 17 of
26 from the floor and 19 of 23 from the free throw line. Feb. 13NWC Player of the Week: Scott Szalay (George Fox, Sr., P, Everett,
Wash. - Kamiak HS) totaled 43 points, 23 rebounds, eight blocks and six
steals in a pair of Bruin victories. He made 56% (18/32) of his shots
from the field while recording back to back double-doubles. Feb. 6NWC Player of the Week: Lance Pecht (Whitworth, Sr., F, Spokane,
Wash. - Lewis-Clark St.) led the Pirates to a pair of road wins. His 19-point
and 14-rebound double-double led to a win at Willamette. He had an NWC-best
and career-high 38 points at L&C. For the week he shot 66% from the
field and 88% from the line. Jan. 30NWC Player of the Week: Lance Pecht (Whitworth, Sr., F, Spokane,
Wash. - Lewis-Clark St.) made 61% of his shots from the field and 77%
of his free throws to lead the Pirates to a pair of wins. He finished
with 41 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Jan. 23NWC Player of the Week:
Lance Pecht (Whitworth, Sr., F, Spokane, Wash. - Lewis-Clark St.) led
Whitworth to a pair of wins by making 66% of his shots and scoring 46
points. He had a career-high 29 points in the win over Whitman and added
nine rebounds during the two games. Jan. 16NWC Player of the Week: John
Olinger (Willamette, Sr., G, Salem, Ore. - Clackamas CC) led the Bearcats
to a pair of conference wins with 41 points on 57% shooting from the field,
45% from three point range and 91% from the free throw line. He added
nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. Jan. 9NWC Player of the Week: Zach McVey (UPS, Sr., F, Woodinville,
Wash. - Woodinville HS) led the Loggers to the top of the NWC standings
by scoring 40 points and grabbing nine rebounds in key home wins over
PLU and George Fox. He shot 71% from the field and 73% from the free throw
line. Jan. 2NWC Player of the Week: Matt Kelly (Whitman, Sr., G, Walla Walla,
Wash. - Walla Walla HS) scored 52 points in a pair of games at the White
Rose City Classic in York, Pa., including a career high 33 points in the
win over Mt. Union. He added nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Dec. 23NWC Player of the Week: Taylor Marsh (UPS, So., G, Edmonds, Wash.
- Meadowdale) was named MVP of the Caltech tournament after scoring 41
points. He then scored 15 points in the Loggers upset of NCAA DI
UC Riverside. He made 59% (16/27) of his three pointers in the three games
and added eight steals. Dec. 12NWC Player of the Week: Thomas Tillery (L&C, So., G, Portland,
Ore. - Benson HS) led the Pioneers to a pair of victories while averaging
17 points a game. He added 13 assists and 11 rebounds and scored the game
winner at Evergreen in the final seconds. Dec. 5NWC Player of the Week: Chase Curtiss (UPS, Sr., G, Santa Cruz,
Calif. - Soquel) led the Loggers to a pair of NWC road victories by scoring
41 points (including 11 three pointers, while shooting 61% beyond the
arc). He also came up with eight steals. Nov. 28NWC Player of the Week:
Erik Kofler (Whitman, Sr., P, Walla Walla, Wash. - Walla Walla) scored
43 points on 51% shooting in two games. He added 16 rebounds and four
blocked shots. He had a career high 28 points in a win over previously
undefeated Concordia (Ore.). Nov. 21NWC Player of the Week: Phil Heu-Weller (George Fox, Jr., W, Olympia,
Wash. - Olympia) led the Bruins to a season-opening win with 32 points
on 63% shooting. |
