Valentine had few unproductive trips to the plate while collecting eight hits and two walks in 13 officials at-bats, hitting .615 (1.077 slugging percentage) with six RBI and six runs scored. He was 4-for-4 in game one with a double and triple, and he sparked Whitman's 7-5 comeback win in game two with a three-run homer, ultimately accounting for all seven Whitman runs with four RBI and three runs scored. He was flawless at first base, making 27 put-outs without an error, and he threw a hitless inning of relief in game three as Whitman won two of three games for its second series victory of the NWC season.
