Whitman 10-8, at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 6-4 (2nd 7 inn.)

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Spurred by Joseph Zimmer's two home runs and a pair of first-time starting pitchers getting the job done, the Whitman Blues picked up two wins Sunday over the host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags 10-6 and 8-4 take the final three games of the four-game set.

Whitworth 15, Willamette 4 (at Wilsonville OR HS)

WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Jacob Yamane went 3-for-5 with five runs batted in, including a grand slam in a seven-run seventh inning, to lead the Whitworth Pirates to a 15-4 victory over the Willamette Bearcats Sunday afternoon at Wilsonville High School. 

Willamette 9, Lewis & Clark 0 (at Wilsonville OR HS)

WILSONVILLE, Ore. - Troy Conway belted two triples and drove in three runs and the Willamette Bearcats backed Benjamin Whitten's seven innings of shutout ball with 13 hits to beat the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 9-0 in their second game of the day Sunday at Wilsonville High School.

Puget Sound 10, Lewis & Clark 9 (at Wilsonville OR HS)

WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Scoring five times in the seventh inning and twice more in the eighth on a two-run double by Ryan Mpyes, the Puget Sound Loggers erased a six-run deficit to beat the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 10-9 at Wilsonville High School on Sunday.

Pacific (Ore.) 6, Redlands 5

TUCSON, Ariz. – Charlie Dietrich slugged a pair of solo home runs and Spencer Backstrom earned a save with 1.2 innings of shutout relief with four strikeouts as the Pacific Boxers finished a 3-1 Cactus Classic appearance with a 6-5 win over the Redlands Bulldogs Sunday.

Pacific Lutheran 7-8, at Pomona-Pitzer 3-0

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Banging out 21 hits on the day, including two doubles, a triple, and three home runs while Jacob Gleichman and Chad Gideon combined to fan 11 and give up seven hits over 15 innings, the Pacific Lutheran Lutes swept the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 7-3 and 8-0 Saturday.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Whitman Blues picked up their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, pounding out early runs for an eventual 6-2 second-game victory over host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps after the Stags had taken the opener 7-6 by plating two in the bottom of the 10th.

Puget Sound 7, Whitworth 2 (at Wilsonville OR HS)

WILSONVILLE, Ore.  – Joshua Zavisubin was stellar in his second start, tossing eight innings while allowing two runs and seven hits, and Ricardo Barraza had a three-hit game as the Puget Sound Loggers beat defending NWC champion Whitworth 7-2 Saturday at Wilsonville High School.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. - Matt Steindorf threw five scoreless innings as the starting pitcher, and a trio of relievers completed the game, as the Willamette Bearcats defeated the Puget Sound Loggers 3-1 on Saturday at Wilsonville High School Field.

Whitworth 4, Lewis & Clark 0 (at Wilsonville OR HS)

WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Ryan Kingma and Darren Crosby combined on a five-hit shutout and Matthew Nelson drilled a two-run homer in the third inning to lead Whitworth to a 4-0 win over the Lewis & Clark Pioneers, giving the Pirates their first win of the 2017 baseball season.

California Lutheran 12, Pacific (Ore.) 0

TUCSON, Ariz. – Josh Keithly highlighted a three-run rally in the 6th with a two-run single that gave the Pacific Boxers a 4-2 win over the La Verne Leopards in the Cactus Classic Saturday, but the Boxers were held to only two hits in their second game and fell 12-0 to the California Lutheran Kingsmen.

George Fox 6, Occidental 2

TUCSON, Ariz. – George Fox broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the 8th inning, the key hit an RBI double by Dillon Blankenship, as the Bruins picked up their first win of the season with a 6-2 victory over the Occidental Tigers Saturday in the Cactus Classic at the Kino Sports Complex.

Linfield 10, Redlands 5

TUCSON, Ariz. – Despite 23 hits, including four each by Scott Hilpert, Ryan Pladson and Kekoa Kaulukukui, Linfield dropped a 20-19 decision to Chapman, but doubled up Redlands 10-5 behind Dylan Peters' 4.2 innings of shutout relief in its second game in the Cactus Classic Saturday.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Mikah Takashige threw 4.1 innings of three-hit shutout relief but the damage had already been done as the Redlands Bulldogs scored nine runs in the second inning on the way to a 12-3 win over the George Fox Bruins on the second day of the Cactus Classic Friday.

Linfield 2, California Lutheran 1

TUCSON, Ariz. – Scott Hilpert tripled in a run and then scored on a throwing error in the fifth inning, giving the Linfield Wildcats just enough offense to hang a 2-1 loss on the California Lutheran Kingsmen in their season opener Friday in the Cactus Classic.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Eli Wisdom led an 11-hit attack with three base hits and Paul Wolfram threw six quality innings as the Pacific Boxers opened played in the Cactus Classic with a 10-4 victory over the Chapman Panthers Friday at the Kino Sports Complex.

THURSDAY, FEB. 9

at Pomona-Pitzer 11, Pacific Lutheran 10

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Late offense proved to be the deciding factor for the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens as they scored six runs in their final two at bats to get the better of the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in an 11-10 slugfest Thursday afternoon, despite being out-hit by PLU 17-12.

TUCSON, Ariz. – La Verne broke open a close game with a 10-run fourth inning on the way to a 15-7 win over George Fox, and the Bruins later let a 3-0 first-inning lead get away in a 9-5 loss to Chapman as the Cactus Classic got under way Thursday at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium.
