five kilometers in 18:04.2; Leslie Nelson (Whitworth) finished second at the
Bigfoot (18:39); Odessa Weber (L&C) finished fourth at the L&C Open, running
6k in 22:50.1; Meryl Witt (Linfield) finished seventh at L&C (23:02); Sara Burnet
(UPS) finished 9th at L&C (23:12.9); Katherine Lichtenwalter (Pacific) finished
16th at L&C (23:58.9).
NWC Men’s Runner of the Week: Competing against mostly NCAA Division
I and II runners, Michael Owen (George Fox, Sr., Newberg, Ore.) finished 36th
out of 185 and 1st among Division III competitors at the Triton Classic, covering
8 kilometers in 27:07.5, leading the Bruins to a Division III title.
Honorable Mention: Joe Ginanni (Linfield) was 7th at the Clark Invitational,
running 8k in 26:31; Braden Burkholder (Whitman) was 11th at EOU, running 4k
in 13:04.5.
NWC Women’s Runner of the Week: Competing against mostly NCAA Divison
I and II runners, Leighann Fischer (George Fox, F, Molalla, Ore.) finished 39th
overall and 1st among Division III athletes at UCSD, covering 6 kilometers in
24:18 and leading the Bruins to the Division III victory.
Honorable Mention: Leslie Nelson (Whitworth) finished 1st at NNU, running 5k
in 19:44.99; Laura Matsen (Whitman) was 1st at EOU, covering 3.2k in 11:37.17;
Meryl Witt (Linfield) was 4th at the Clark Invite, running 5k in 19:28.

Wash.) finished fifth at the Willamette Invitational, covering the 8 kilometer
race in 24:26. He led all Division III runners.

May (Pacific, Fr., Phoenix, Ore.) won the men’s competition (52 runners) at
the Pacific Invitational, covering the 8 kilometer course in 26:25.81.

Conor Flynn (Whitman) was 7th at Pacific (27:16.38); Ben Brown (PLU) was 47th

led the Pioneers to a second place finish in their Invitational by placing third
overall with a 6k time of 22:29.4.
