Ronnie Thomas ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns to lead visiting Whitworth to a season-opening 28-13 win at College of St. Scholastica in a non-conference football game on Saturday afternoon at Public Schools stadium.
Linfield 30, Menlo 9
Mickey Inns (Sr., Gresham, Ore.) threw for two touchdowns and caught a 17-yard scoring pass, and Josh Hill (Sr., Portland, Ore.) rushed for 113 yards to power fifth-ranked Linfield past Menlo 30-9 Saturday in the Wildcats' season-opener at Maxwell Field.
Sewanee 30, Puget Sound 7
Four turnovers proved to be costly for the Puget Sound football team as it fell 30-7 in the 2012 season opener at Sewanee on Saturday. The Loggers (0-1) totaled 267 yards of offense but turned the ball over four times and allowed the Tigers (1-0) to gain 469 yards of offense in the defeat.
Simon Fraser 51, Pacific 14 (Thursday)
Simon Fraser's special teams came up big against Pacific Thursday night, with their plays leading directly to five touchdowns as the Clan rolled past the Boxers 51-14 in both team's 2012 football opener at Lincoln Park Stadium.
