The Lewis & Clark football team played its first home game of the season on Saturday, taking down the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 31-13. The Pioneers improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Sagehens fall to 0-2.
Linfield 33, Cal Lutheran 30
The two West Coast powers slugged it out in tinderbox conditions at William Rolland Stadium Saturday before Josh Kay (Sr., Salem, Ore.) booted a 39-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to lift Linfield to a draining 33-30 victory.
Whitworth 45, La Verne 20
Whitworth returned a kickoff and two interceptions for touchdowns on a night when the offense sputtered at times in a 45-20 win over La Verne in the Leopards' home and season opener.
Pacific Lutheran 28, Redlands 14
Dalton Ritchey passed for 285 yards and two touchdowns and Erik Hoium scored on an interception return as Pacific Lutheran beat Redlands, 28-14, in a non-conference football game played on a warm Saturday night at Ted Runner Stadium.

Willamette 38, East Texas Baptist 24
Willamette University built a 28-3 halftime lead over East Texas Baptist University on Friday, Sept. 14, but saw the margin dwindle to 11 points early in the fourth quarter. With 6:20 left and Willamette still leading 35-24, the Bearcats went on a 15-play, 76-yard drive to set up a clinching field goal with one minute remaining, as WU defeated the Tigers, 38-24.
