NWC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 1 - 7

Nelson, normally a back-up at inside linebacker, played most of the game against Whitworth University after senior starter Wes Wenzel had to leave the field due to an injury. Nelson responded by leading the Bearcats with 13 total tackles on a team-high 11 solo tackles, plus two assists. He also broke up a pass. Nelson helped Willamette limit Whitworth to just 168 yards and seven points in the second half.
