Six from NWC earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for football

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Six football players from the Northwest Conference were honored as members of the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team.

Honorees were selected by members of CoSIDA in the NCAA Division III Distirct 8, and must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and be at-least a sophomore in status. On the field nominees must be starters or significant contributors off the bench for their team.

George Fox picked up a pair of honorees as quarterback Grant Schroeder (Sr., Corvallis, Ore.) and defensive lineman Caleb Dalzell (Jr., Gresham, Ore.) received the nod. Schroeder, a Second Team All-NWC honoree in 2017, is an engineering major at George Fox. First Team All-NWC selection, Dalzell is a majoring in biology.

Lewis & Clark's Pete Lahti (Jr., Lincoln City, Ore.) was selected as a defensive back, having averaged 4.8 tackles per game and picking up one interception on the season. Lahti is a biology major at Lewis & Clark.

The NWC champions, Linfield, saw two players honored as offensive lineman Will Heck (Sr., Corvallis, Ore.) and linebacker Jake Reimer (Sr., Sherwood, Ore.) earned recognition. Heck is studying accounting at Linfield, while First Team All-NWC honoree, Reimer is a political science major. Reimer is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

Whitworth's Patch Kulp (Sr., Santa Clarita, Calif.) became a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection to go along with his First Team All-NWC nod in 2017. Kulp is an athletic training major at Whitworth.
