Week of Nov. 9-15

Football: Offense - Tim Blair, Willamette, Jr., Ashland. Blair had 16 carries for 132 yards and the game-winning TD (16 yds.) with 1:36 to go. He also had runs of 36 and 12 yards in the final 80-yard drive.
Defense - Tony Puz, UPS, Sr. Puz had 15 tackles (7 solo), including 1 for loss of 8, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble and 3 QB sacks for 32 yards.
Notable - Will Lathrop, UPS, seven tackles, 2 deflections and 4 sacks for 33 yards; Kyle Banks, Willamette, had two interceptions, returned 6 and 32 yards; Carl Haberberger, Linfield, rushed 10 times for 73 yards and the Wildcats' only touchdown; Justin Taylor and Joe Pate, Linfield, combined for 26 tackles; Tim Tackett, Linfield, averaged 42.8 yards on five punts, including two that were downed inside the Eastern Oregon 20-yard line; Josh Parbon, Whitworth, completed 16 of 29 passes for 319 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions; Danilo Viloria, Whitworth, recorded 12 tackles (10 UT, 2 AT) against Willamette. He had 4 tackles for losses totalling 19 yards, including 2 sacks for 12 yards; Aaron Schmidt, LC, had 6 receptions for 104 yds and 1 td.


Week of Nov. 2-8

Football: Offense - Nick Forsey, Linfield, Jr., Boise, Id. Forsey caught 8 passes for 94 yards, including the game-winning score with less than six minutes to play. Forsey's 4-yard TD catch marked the third time this season he has scored the game-winner in the fourth quarter.
Defense - Tyler Boob, PLU, Sr., Wapato, Wash. Tyler had 5 unassisted tackles, 9 assists, 14 total, 1 QB sack, 1 forced fumble. The QB sack and forced fumble came on Willamette's last possession and the ball was recovered by PLU, assuring the Lutes the victory and NWC championship.
Notable - Justin Taylor, Linfield, recorded a game-high 16 tackles, including 11 primary and a tackle for loss of 1 yard; Ben Vaday, Whitworth, ran 21 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns; Ryan Wilson, Whitworth, intercepted two passes, returning one 38 yards for a touchdown in the 4th quarter that sealed Whitworth's 28-12 win over Menlo; Barry Friedman, Lewis & Clark, had 13 total tackles (7ut, 6 at) 1 for loss, 1 fumble recovery; Will Lathrop, Puget Sound, had 5 unassisted tackles, 2 assisted, 5 for loss of 20, 2 QB sacks for 16 yards and a forced fumble; Kevin Lint, PLU, had 7 carries for 26 yards and 1 TD (7 yards), 4 catches for 72 yards and 1 TD (22 yards); Ardell Bailey, Willamette, had 107 yards and a TD on 17 carries; Kyle Banks, Willamette, had 8 tackles (1 for loss), and an interception.

Week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1

Football: Offense - Nate Bell, Willamette, Fr., Corvallis, Ore. Bell carried the ball 11 times for 166 yards and a 75-yard TD run that pushed the Bearcats lead to 14-3 in the third quarter against UPS.
Defense - Brandon Woods, PLU, Sr. Woods had 11 tackles, 5 for loss of 25, 1.5 QB sacks for 21 yards as PLU ended Linfield's 10-game winning streak.
Notable - Jimmy Ramirez, Whitworth, caught five passes for 161 yards and two TDs. Carl Haberberger, Linfield, rushed for a career-high 149 yards, including an 80-yard TD run in the second quarter; Anthony Hicks, PLU, had 25 carries for 84 yards and 2 TDs, plus 2 catches for 27 yards; Ryan Carlson, Linfield recorded 11 tackles, including a sack of 9 yards and five other tackles for loss of 15 yards; Andy Clark, Whitworth, had six tackles (2 UT, 4 AT), 1 interception and 1 pass break up; Tom Kofoed, LC, had 8 total tackles (6UT, 2 AT) with one for loss; Brian Schott, LC, went 8 for 15 for 152 yards; Jonathan Carlson, PLU, 5 tackles including 3 QB sacks for 28 yards and forced fumble; David Lizaola, Willamette, recorded six tackles, including five for losses of 12 yards.

Week of Oct. 19-25

Football: Offense - Bucky Rivera, Willamette, Fr., Eugene, Ore. Rivera came off the bench in the second quarter at Southern Oregon, completed 14 of 24 passes for 241 yards and three TDs, including the game-winner with 55 seconds left to culminate a 99-yard drive.
Defense - David Lizoala, Willamette, Jr., Salinas, Calif. Had 11 tackles, six for losses of 30 yards, and three sacks for losses of 25 yards as Willamette held SOU to 180 total yards of offense.
Notable - Anthony Hicks, PLU, rushed for 136 yards and a TD against Whitworth; Brian Higgins, Linfield, passed for a season-high 240 yards and 2 TDs while completing 16 of 27 passes (59.3%); Eldon Masaoka, Linfield, made five tackles (3 unassisted), including a tackle for loss of 27 yards. He also grabbed a fumble out of mid-air and returned it 32 yards; Drew Jordan, Lewis & Clark, went 22-for-36 for 273 yards and 1 TD; Jeremy Vlach. Lewis & Clark, had 10 tackles; Sky Blake, Whitworth, had 14 tackles (8 UA, 6 AT), including three for losses totalling five yards; Matt Stueckle, Whitworth, scored a toucdown, kicked two field goals (in two attempts), caught a two-point conversion, and kicked a PAT for 15 total points against PLU. He finished with five catches for a team-high 97 yards (and the one TD).

Week of Oct. 12-18

Football: Offense - Carl Haberberger, Linfield, So., Leavenworth, Wa. Haberberger rushed 21 times for a career-high 146 yards and two touchdowns as Linfield beat Willamette.
Defense - Tony Puz, Puget Sound, Sr. Had 15 tackles, two for losses of eight yards and five sacks for 42 yards.
Notable - Aaron Schmidt, Lewis & Clark, had 14 receptions for 208 yards and 2 TDs; Nick Forsey, Linfield, caught the game-winning TD from Brian Higgins with 44 seconds left to beat Willamette; Ryan Carlson, Linfield, Carlson made a game-high 18 tackles, including 10 unassisted and 1 1/2 tackles for losses of five yards; Damian Putney, Whitworth, rushed for career-high 115 yards on 27 carries and scored 2 touchdowns; Shane Lyman, Whitworth, had two sacks (totalling 11 yards) and returned a blocked punt five yards for the decisive touchdown in Whitworth's 38-17 win over Eastern Oregon; Chad Johnson, PLU, was 15-21 for 161 yards, 2 TDs, 0 ints, and had five carries for 13 yards and a TD; Brandon Woods, PLU, had 9 tackles, one for loss and 1/2 QB sack.

Week of Oct. 5-11

Football: Offense - Anthony Hicks, PLU, Jr., Tumwater, Wa. Transfer from UW carried 19 times for 203 yards and a TD in Lutes win over Eastern Oregon.
Defense - Sky Blake, Whitworth, So., Bothell, Wa. Recorded 18 tackles (12 UT, 6 AT) and 1 sack for 8 yards in the Pirate's narrow 10-7 loss at Linfield.
Notable - Nate Bell, Willamette, rushed for 122 yards and two TDs on 10 carries; Brandon Folkert, Willamette, made nine tackles against Lewis & Clark; Jimmy Ramirez, Whitworth, had seven catches for 66 yards (including an 11-yard touchdown) and 3 punt returns for 29 yards; Alex Rix, Linfield, made a career-high seven tackles and deflected three passes. Intercepted Whitworth QB Josh Parbon and returned it 25 yards. Also returned a kickoff 17 yards; Koko Hunt, Linfield, had 8 tackles, and 2 passes broken up; Tony Puz, UPS, had 15 tackles, eight unassisted, three tackles for losses of six yards and four sacks totalling 28 yards.

Week of Sept. 28-Oct. 3

Football: Offense - Anthony Hicks, PLU, Jr., Tumwater, Wa. Transfer from UW carried 13 times for 123 yards and three TDs, including runs of 48, 16 and 10 yards.
Defense - Justin Taylor, Linfield, Sr., Burns, Ore. Taylor was the game's leading tackler with 14 tackles (10 unassisted), including three tackles for losses of 12 yards. Also returned an interception 26 yards and broke up one pass as the Linfield defense held Southern Oregon to 188 yards, 252 yards below the Raiders' season average.
Notable - John Nosler, Linfield, caught six passes for 100 yards and one touchdown; Ardell Bailey, Willamette. Rushed for a career-high 132 yards on 10 carries; Damian Putney, Whitworth, rushed for 113 yards on 25 carries and scored 3 touchdowns, both career-highs; Mitch Ellerd, Whitworth, had 14 tackles (3 UT, 11 AT) to lead Pirate defenders. He had 4 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, totalling eight yards in losses; Luke Gearhard, PLU, had six tackles, two QB sacks for 14 in losses; David Hurt, Lewis & Clark, had 10 unassisted tackles, 3 assisted, 1 for loss of 8 yds, 1 sack.

Week of September 21-27

Football: Offense - Drew Jordan, Lewis & Clark, So., Portland, Ore. Jordan went 22 for 30 for 344 yds. and 2 TD's, and was picked off once.
Defense - Brandon Folkert, Willamette, Sr., Salem, Ore. Had seven tackles, one for loss, and blocked the potential game-winning field goal with 56 seconds left in regulation.
Notable - Aaron Schmidt, Lewis & Clark, 8 receptions for 157 yds and 1 TD; Jeremy Vlach, Lewis & Clark, 6 unassisted tackles, 2 assisted, 1 for loss of 3 yds, 1 forced fumble.


Notable - Brandon Workman (Jr., Moscow HS, Idaho) finished 7th out of 144 runners at Sundodger Invitational men's open in 27:04.10. Helped George Fox finish fourth out of 12 teams.

Week of September 14-20

Football: Offense - Nick Forsey, Linfield, Jr., Boise, Idaho. Forsey caught 13 passes for 112 yards and the game-tying touchdown with 47 second remaining in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. In the Kansas Plan overtime, Forsey caught four passes for 22 yards to set up Carl Haberberger's 1-yard dive for the winning score.
Defense - Ryan Wilson, Whitworth, Sr., Montesano, Wash. Intercepted three passes, including one he returned 52 yards for a TD, in Whitworth's 28-13 upset of Montana Tech. Also forced a fumble.
Notable - Josh Parbon, Whitworth, completed 15 of 30 passes for 205 yards and three TDs; Whitworth DE Sky Blake had nine tackles and four sacks totalling 14 yards; Willamette LB Brandon Folkert recorded 11 tackles, two unassisted, and had a pass broken up; Linfield's Joe Pate was credited with a game-high 13 tackles, including 1 tackle for loss (-10) and a sack (-10).
Men's soccer: Bryan Erickson, George Fox, Fr., Chehalis, Wash. Scored four goals in three games as the Bruins went 2-1 and improved their record to 5-1-1 overall.
Notable - Willamette's Trevor Frank scored two goals and an assist in three victories; Linfield's Jake Riley scored two goals in three games last week, including one against defending national champion Seattle.

Women's soccer: Robin Heard, Willamette, Sr., South Salem, Ore. Had three shutouts in three wins, increasing her school-record total to 40 shutouts.
Notable - Linfield's Emily Baker scored the winning goal to beat Pacific with 1:10 left on the clock to give the Wildcats their first conference win of the season..
Volleyball: Sharon Barnett, George Fox. In two match victories, including one over defending conference champ Puget Sound, Barnett had 29 kills, an attack percentage of .271, 26 digs, five blocks, three aces and an assist.
Notable - Puget Sound's Anna Dudek had 15 and 22 kills (in loss to George Fox), 22 digs and two aces in two matches; Willamette's Rosie Allen had 27 kills in 10 games; Whitworth's Megan Perica had 13 kills in 32 attempts.

Cross Country: M: Scott Crouter, Linfield, SrPlaced second at the Big Cross Invitational in 25:42. Helped Linfield to a second-place team finish.

Cross Country: W: Carrie Mohoric, LinfieldPlaced 13th at the Big Cross Invitational in 19:45.


Week of September 7-13

Football: Offense - Luke Atwood, Willamette, Fr., Keizer, OR (McNary). Rushed for 148 yards and a TD on 13 carries, and was 7-for-17 passing for 136 yards in his collegiate debut, a 63-6 win.
Defense - Kevin O'Rourke, Linfield, Jr., Monsterback, Vancouver, Wash. Recovered Mike Purdy's blocked punt in the end zone to help rally Linfield from 10 points down in the first half. Also deflected one pass and made 7 tackles (6 unassisted), including a tackle for loss (-9).
Notable - Josh Parbon, Whitworth, completed 19 of 35 passes for 325 yards and two TDs;Pat Ames, UPS. The senior rushed for 159 yards and two TDs on 25 carries; Carl Haberberger, Linfield, rushed for 115 yards and 1 TD on 17 carries; David Hurt, Lewis & Clark, had 14 total tackles, 7 UT, 7 UA; Aaron Schmidt, Lewis & Clark, had 7 receptions for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns.
