Friday's Men's Basketball Recap
Lewis & Clark 72, George Fox 71
(OT)
In a finish reminiscent of North Carolina State’s upset of
Houston in the 1983 NCAA Tournament, Conner Freeberg put back an
air ball with 0.2 seconds left to give the Lewis & Clark
College Pioneers a stunning 72-71 Northwest Conference men’s
basketball win in overtime over the George Fox University Bruins
Saturday night here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller
Gym.
Pacific Lutheran 74, Whitman 68
Despite shooting just 18-for-35 from the free throw line, Pacific
Lutheran picked up a much-needed 74-68 victory over Whitman in a
Northwest Conference men's basketball game played Friday night in
Olson Auditorium.
Whitworth 62, Puget Sound 53
Rex Nelson turned in a double-double off the bench but
it wasn't quite enough as the Puget Sound men's basketball team
fell 62-53 to fourth-ranked Whitworth. Nelson scored 23 points and
grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.
Pacific (Ore.) 97, Willamette 96
(OT)
Pacific University edged out Willamette University, 97-96, in
overtime on Friday, Jan. 25, in a Northwest Conference men's
basketball game at Cone Field House. The game came down to the
final second and almost continued beyond the first
overtime.
