Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Nov. 1-6
Player of the Week: Merrick Brownlee (George Fox, Jr., MF, Eugene, OR) scored three goals and assisted on another in win over Pacific. Honorable Mention: Mark Lupton (Whitworth, D) scored two goals in win over Whitman; Jake Riley (Linfield, F) scored two goals in loss to Willamette; Chase Jordan (Willamette, F) scored a goal and had an assist in win over Linfield.
Oct. 25-31
Player of the Week: Shannon Hopkins (Linfield, So., F, Hilo, HI) scored three goals in two matches, including game winner vs. George Fox. His 12 goals tie the Wildcats' school record. Honorable Mention: Tye Tolentino (UPS, MF) scored game-winning goal in overtime at Whitworth to finish with NWC-best 34 points; Garth Giles (Whitman, GK) recorded eight saves in shutout of PLU; Dustin Sacket (Pacific, F) scored two goals in two games (both wins); Brad Day (Pacific) had a goal and two assists in two games.
Oct. 18-24
Player of the Week: Chris McDonald (Linfield, So., MF, Seaside, OR) scored two goals in two matches, including the winning goal in 3-1 win at Whitman that kept the Wildcats' slim title hopes alive. Honorable Mention: Jonas Tanzer (PLU, GK) allowed only one goal in two matches, both wins, while making eight saves against 15 shots; Doug Lupton (Whitworth, GK) allowed only one goal in two matches, a win and a tie, while making nine saves against 22 shots.
Oct. 11-17
Player of the Week: Alan Brinkmeier (Pacific, Fr., GK, Dover, ID) recorded his third and fourth straight shutouts in two weekend matches against Whitman and Whitworth, leading the Boxers into sole possession of third place. He made 10 saves in the two matches. Honorable Mention: Chris Raymond (UPS, Fr., F, Tacoma, WA) scored three goals and added an assist in 5-0 win over Willamette; Chris Burke (Pacific, F) scored both game-winning goals in wins over Whitworth and Whitman; Todd Dolan (Linfield, MF) scored two goals in Wildcats' 3-2 win over PLU; Merrick Brownlee scored two goals in George Fox's 3-2 win over Whitman; Brendan Seifken (Whitworth, MF) scored the game winning goal against George Fox to end a five-match winless streak.
Oct. 4-10
Co-Players of the Week: Ryan Wittstruck (Puget Sound, So., GK, Spokane, WA) recorded a pair of shutouts, moving the Loggers into first place. He made 10 saves in double overtime win over Whitworth and 4 in the win over Whitman. Alan Brinkmeier (Pacific, Fr., GK, Dover, ID) also recorded two shutouts, including a 1-0 win at Linfield that knocked the Wildcats out of first place. He had 11 saves in the two games.
Sept. 27-Oct. 3
Player of the Week: David Ludwin (Puget Sound, Jr., F, Ft. Collins, CO) scored four goals, two vs. George Fox and two vs. Pacific as Loggers went 3-0 last week. Honorable Mention: Ryan Austin (George Fox, MF) scored both winning goals in Bruins' 2-1 win over Pacific and 1-0 win over PLU; Chase Jordan (Willamette, F) scored two goals and assisted on the other in Bearcats' 3-2 win over Linfield and added assist in 2-1 win over Whitman; Travis Spear (Linfield, MF) scored the winning goal in overtime against Whitworth.
Sept. 20-26
Player of the Week: Shannon Hopkins (Linfield, So., F, Hilo, HI) scored four goals in two games, including a hat trick in the Wildcats' 3-0 win at previously undefeated UPS. Honorable Mention: Logan Williams (Pacific, Sr.) overcame a serious leg cut to score a goal in the Boxers' 5-1 win at Whitman; Ty Kovatch (Pacific, Jr.) scored two goals in the same match at Whitman; Jahn Kallis (Whitworth, Jr., D) scored his first two goals of the season to spark Whitworth's 4-1 win over George Fox.
Sept. 13-19
Player of the Week: Dustin Sackett (Pacific, Fr., F, Springfield, OR) scored his second hat trick of the season in the Boxers' 5-1 win over Warner Pacific. Honorable Mention: Trevor Frank (Willamette, Sr., F) had two goals and an assist in two games . . . Mark Lupton (Whitworth, Jr., D) scored two goals in the Pirates' 3-0 win over MSU-Billings.
Sept. 6-12
Player of the Week: Joe Capp (Whitman, Jr., GK, Yakima, WA) made eight saves to record a shutout in his first start for the Missionaries, a 1-0 win at Albertson. Honorable Mention: Jeff Vahid-Tari (Linfield, So., F) scored his third goal in two games in Wildcats' win over Western Baptist. . . Tye Tolentino (UPS, Jr., MF) became the Loggers' all-time assist leader with 16 after getting two in win over Evergreen. . . Dustin Sackett (Pacific, Fr., F) scored two goals in Boxers' win over Cascade.
