Whitworth Claims NWC Crown - Saturday's Men's Soccer Recap

The Whitworth Pirates claim the Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship. Along with it, the Pirates earn the NWC's automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament.

Willamette 4, Linfield 3
In a battle of nearby Northwest Conference rivals, Willamette University scored two goals in the first half before Linfield tied the game with goals at 50:52 and 52:42. Willamette countered with two quick goals of its own at 67:27 and 68:55 to take charge of the game in a 4-3 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Sparks Field. 

Puget Sound 2, Pacific Lutheran 0
The Puget Sound men's soccer team said goodbye to four seniors in style at East Field on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win against Pacific Lutheran. The Loggers (12-3-5, 8-2-4 NWC) scored twice in the second half and goalkeeper Chris McDonald made two saves to preserve the shutout on senior day. 

Whitman 2, Whitworth 1 (OT)
Choosing to rest starters for the upcoming NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament, the visiting Whitworth Pirates fell 2-1 in overtime to Whitman on Saturday afternoon.
