Northwest Conference Softball Player of the Week

April 29

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Kelly Johnson (Linfield, So., C, Clackamas, Ore.) went 4/9 with a home run, double and six runs batted in to lead the Wildcats to a four-game sweep of Whitworth.
Honorable Mention: Marcie Hagen (Willamette, 3B) went 3/7 in two games with a double and three runs scored; Meghan Zygar (UPS, 1B) went 4/7 with a run scored in two games.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Nikki Coplin (Linfield, Sr., Glide, Ore.) went 2-0 with a 0.72 ERA and nine strikeouts.

April 22

Co-NWC Softball Hitters of the Week: Gretchen Reiner (Linfield, Jr., 3B, Beaverton, Ore.) led the Wildcats to a 5-0 week by hitting .733 (11/15) with 5 doubles, a triple and nine runs batted in. McKenna Dotson (PLU, Sr., CF, Renton, Wash.) went 8/16 with three home runs and nine rbi’s in five wins.
Honorable Mention: Marcie Hagen (Willamette, 3B) went 7/16 with an rbi and three runs scored; Kyra Rohner (L&C, C) hit 5/14 with a home run, triple, 4 rbi’s and 3 runs scored; Aubrie Caldwell (Whitworth, IF) went 3/8 with a home run, two rbi’s and two runs scored.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Hayley Boston (Willamette, So., LHP, Newport, Ore.) went 4-0 last week, allowing four runs (one earned) and striking out 20 batters in 28.2 innings pitched.
Honorable Mention:  Jewell Koury (PLU) went 3-0 last week, allowing one run in 13 innings, striking out seven; Kacey Brice (Linfield) went 2-0 last week, allowing only one run and striking out eight in 15.1 innings.

April 15

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Heather McVay (Pacific, Fr., 3B, Tillamook, Ore.) went 7/11 with two runs scored, two rbi’s and two doubles in three games.
Honorable Mention: Shannon Fritzke (PLU, C/DH) went 5/11 with 4 rbi’s, two runs scored and two doubles; Lori Adams (Whitworth, P/IF) went 5/10 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and an rbi.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Melissa Korb (PLU, Jr., Poulsbo, Wash.) went 2-0 at Linfield, allowing five hits and one run and striking out 13 batters. She also hit a grand slam.
Honorable Mention:  Liz Coburn (L&C) went 2-1 in four games, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out nine batters; Laura Steenson (George Fox, RHP) went 3-1 in four complete games, allowing 8 runs and 17 hits; Mandy Batey (Pacific) went 2-1 in three games, allowing four runs.

April 8

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Jill Voorhies (UPS, Jr., OF, Newport, Ore.) went 6/8 with four rbi’s to lead UPS to a sweep of two games with Pacific.
Honorable Mention: Jennifer Kennedy (George Fox, C) went 6/9 with two doubles, four runs and an rbi in three games; Jenny Ferries (PLU, SS) went 6/11 and hit the game winning homer in game three vs. L&C; Kim Gainey (Pacific, DP) went 3/4 with an rbi and run scored vs. UPS; Gretchen Reiner (Linfield, 3B) was 5/16 with three runs scored and five rbi’s; Marci Hagen (Willamette, 3B) hit 6/15 with four runs and two rbi’s in five games.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Kacey Brice (Linfield, Sr., RHP, The Dalles, Ore.) earned a pair of wins last week, not allowing a run and giving up three hits and two walks in 7.2 innings.
Honorable Mention:  Lori Adams (Whitworth, RHP) went 3-1 in five games with a 1.50 ERA and striking out 10 batters; Laura Steenson (George Fox, RHP) went 2-1 in three complete games, allowing six runs and 18 hits and striking out 13.

April 1

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Meaghan Sussman (Willamette, So., 1B, Fresno, Calif.) led the Bearcats to a four-game sweep of Whitworth by going 6/10 with three rbi’s and two stolen bases.
Honorable Mention: Jen Dieringer (Linfield, OF) went 9/21 in six games, driving in three runs and scoring three runs.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Melissa Korb (PLU, Jr., Poulsbo, Wash.) went 2-0 this week, shutting out Hayward 2-0 on one hit and allowing three hits in a 5-2 win over George Fox.
Honorable Mention:  Hayley Boston (Willamette) went 2-0 in three games, allowing eight hits and one run, while striking out nine; Kacey Brice shut out UPS 3-0 while going 2-0 last week, allowing six earned runs and striking out 12 batters.

March 25

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Sarah Camp (George Fox, Fr., SS, Hubbard, Ore.) helped the Bruins to a 4-1-1 week by going 3/8 with six walks, 8 runs scored and two stolen bases.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Laura Steenson (George Fox, So., Milwaukie, Ore.) went 4-0-1 last week, allowing one earned run (five total), for an ERA of 0.14. She struck out 24 and walked seven in 37 innings.

March 18

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Heather Lovejoy (UPS, Jr., 3B, Tacoma, Wash.) hit .429 (15/35) in 11 games last week, driving in 17 runs with eight doubles and a home run.
Honorable Mention: Shannon Fritzke (PLU, C) went 6/12 with three rbi’s and a double in three games.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Melissa Korb (PLU, Jr., Poulsbo, Wash.) won two games against Willamette, allowing one run (0 earned) in 14 innings.
Honorable Mention: Kerry Oswalt (UPS) went 3-0 last week with a 2.50 ERA.

March 12

NWC Softball Hitter of the Week: Jill Voorhies (UPS, Jr., OF, Newport, Ore.) went 7/13 with a double, triple and six runs scored in four games (including three wins) last week.
Honorable Mention: Brittany Baird (George Fox, 3B) went 3/6 with a double, four runs scored and two rbi’s in three games; Aubrie Caldwell (Whitworth, IF) went 7/13 in four games last week, scoring eight runs.

NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Meghan Walsh (UPS, Jr., Eugene, Ore.) went 2-0 last week, throwing one shutout and allowing only one earned run.
Honorable Mention: Amy Larson (George Fox) beat Linfield 8-0 on a one-hit shutout and allowed only two runs (one earned) in eight innings of work.
