2005 NWC Softball Players of the WeekMay 2NWC Player of the Week: Lindsay Fujitia (UPS, Fr., IF, Honolulu,
Hawaii) led the Loggers to a pair of wins last week by hitting .667 (6/9)
with a home run. She drove in five runs and scored four. NWC Pitcher of the Week: Adrian Herlache (UPS, So., RHP, Sierra
Madre, Calif.) threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout at Pacific. She struck
out eight batters and walked four. April 25NWC Player of the Week: Liz Stuhlmiller (PLU, Jr., OF, Edwall,
Wash.) hit .500 (9/18) in six games. She scored eight times and drove
in four runs. She also stole three bases. NWC Pitcher of the Week: Jo Sonnett (Whitworth, Jr., RHP, Puyallup,
Wash.) started two games and threw two complete game shutouts. In 14 innings
she allowed six hits while striking out 17 batters without a walk. April 18NWC Player of the Week: Amy Hammons (Linfield, Jr., SS, Bellingham,
Wash.) led the Wildcats to four wins by hitting .500 (7/14) with four
home runs and a double. She drove in eight runs and scored four times.
NWC Pitcher of the Week: Alana Klaus (Whitworth, Sr., RHP, Spokane,
Wash.) went 1-1 in three appearances with a 1.60 ERA. In 15 innings she
allowed two runs on 12 hits. She struck out eight batters. April 11NWC Player of the Week: Cassie Halvorson (George Fox, Jr., OF,
Hillsboro, Ore.) led the Bruins to a 4-2 week by hitting .458 (11/24)
with a home run, a triple and two doubles. She drove in nine runs and
scored seven times. NWC Pitcher of the Week: Michelle Roberts (George Fox, So., RHP,
Salem, Ore.) appeared in five games and went 2-1. In 21.1 innings she
allowed six runs (two earned) on 14 hits and two walks. She struck out
19 batters. April 4NWC Player of the Week: Mary Jo Marquardt (PLU, Sr., C, Emporia,
Kansas) led the Lutes to a 6-0 week by hitting .588 (10/17) with three
doubles, a triple and two home runs. She drove in 13 runs and scored seven. NWC Pitcher of the Week: Candace Howard (PLU, Jr., RHP, Puyallup,
Wash.) went 3-0 in three starts, allowing only two runs on 11 hits in
19 innings pitched. She struck out 12 and walked 10 batters. March 28NWC Player of the Week: Heather Case (Whitworth, Fr., P/UT, Poulsbo,
Wash.), playing entirely as DP, hit .750 (9-12) with a triple and home
run. She drove in five runs and scored eight times in the Bucs four
wins over GFU. NWC Pitcher of the Week: Jo Sonnett (Whitworth, Jr., RHP, Puyallup,
Wash.) started three games and threw three complete-game shutouts. In
19 innings she allowed no runs on seven hits and three walks, while striking
out 22 batters. March 21NWC Player of the Week: Mary Jo Marquardt (PLU, Sr, C, Emporia,
Kansas) hit .583 (7/12) in four games with three doubles, a triple and
a home run. She drove in five runs and scored twice. NWC Pitcher of the Week: Jessica Roberts (UPS, So., RHP, Sumner,
Wash.) went 3-1 in five games last week with four complete games and two
shutouts. She had a 1.21 ERA, allowing five runs (four earned) in 23 innings
with 22 strikeouts and six walks. March 14NWC Player of the Week:
Shelly Steinke (Linfield, Jr., OF, Canby, Ore.) led the Wildcats to a
perfect weekend by hitting .571 (8/14) with a double and a triple. She
drove in eight runs and stole six bases in seven attempts. NWC Pitcher of the Week:
Michelle Morris (Linfield, Sr., RHP, Tillamook, Ore.) went 2-0 in three
games, allowing no runs on only five hits in 13 innings. She struck out
15 and walked only four. She had a five inning no hitter vs. George Fox. March 7NWC Player of the Week:
Kim Boscacci (Willamette, Jr., OF, Bothell, Wash.) led the Bearcats to
a 4-0 weekend, batting .429 (6-14) with a double, a triple, four runs
batted in and three runs scored. NWC Pitcher of the Week:
Michelle Morris (Linfield, Sr., RHP, Tillamook, Ore.) went 4-0 in five
games, including two complete game shutouts. In 25 innings she allowed
18 hits, two runs (both earned), and 3 walks, while striking out 30 batters. Feb. 28:NWC Player of the Week:
Amanda Norwood (Whitworth, Jr., 1B, Spokane, Wash.) led Whitworth to a
4-0 weekend, batting .556 (5/9) with two doubles, a triple and a sac fly.
She drove in four runs, including the game-winning RBI twice, and scored
once. NWC Pitcher of the Week:
Alana Klaus (Whitworth, Sr., RHP, Spokane, Wash.) was key to three
of Whitworths four shutout victories. She went 2-0, pitching 11
innings and allowing seven hits and one walk. She struck out 13 batters. |
