Guffey placed 4th in the 100 free (49.38) out of 81 entries, was 10th in the 50 free (22.64) and placed 13th in both the 200 free (1:50.19) and the 500 free (4:58.89) at the CAT Open, which featured club teams, plus Willamette and Pacific. Guffey also helped Willamette take 3rd place in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:46.19 and finish 4th in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:23.64. He swam the anchor leg on both relays.
