Swimmers of the Week: Carla Fellezs (UPS, So., Mililani, HI) was the
NWC Outstanding Women’s Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 100 Backstroke
and 100 Freestyle and finishing second in the 200 IM. Kyle Sexton (UPS, Sr.,
Coeur d'Alene, ID) won the NWC Outstanding Men’s Swimmer of the Meet after winning
three individual events. He won the 100 Butterfly, 100 and 200 Backstroke, all
in record time.
Honorable Mention: Other multiple winners include Amanda Didier (UPS), who won
the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes; Erin Kay (Whitworth), who won the 200 and 400
I.M.; and Mindy Galbraith (Whitworth), who won the 500 and 1,650 Freestyles;
Brent Rice (Whitworth), who won the 200 I.M. and 200 Butterfly; Brady Childs
(Willamette), who won the 400 I.M. and 200 Freestyle; Ben Swinehart (Whitworth),
who won the 500 Freestyle and 1,650 Freestyle; and Matt Jones (UPS), who won
the 50 and 100 Freestyles.
Swimmers of the Week: Carla Fellezs (UPS, So., Mililani, HI) won two
individual events and led off the winning 200 medley relay to lead the Loggers
to a 127-78 win over Whitworth and finish the season unbeaten in NWC dual meets.
Her winning time in the 200 I.M. (2:12.88) is the fastest in the NWC this season
and was under the NCAA “B” qualifying mark. Ben Swinehart (Whitworth, Sr., Keizer,
OR) won three individual events (500 and 1,000 Freestyles, 200 I.M.) to lead
Whitworth to a 103-96 win over Puget Sound, giving the Pirates a 6-0 record
in NWC dual meets. His winning time in the 1,000 Free (9:56.60) was a Whitworth
Aquatic Center record and the fastest in the NWC this season.
Honorable Mention: Kyle Sexton (UPS) won the 200 Free and 100 Fly vs. Whitworth
(his 200 Free time of 1:45.80 is the fastest in the NWC this season); Dustin
Greer (Linfield) won the 50 Free and 100 Breast to lead the Wildcats to a win
over PLU; B.J. Wright (Willamette) won the 200 Free and 100 Back to lead the
Bearcats past Lewis & Clark; Katie King (Whitworth) won the 200 and 100 Freestyles
vs. UPS (her time in the 200 Free of 1:56.74 is the fastest in the NWC and was
under the NCAA “B” qualifying mark); Kari Peterson (Willamette) won the 50 Freestyle
and 100 Back in a dual meet victory over L&C; Aven Pendleton (Linfield) won
the 200 and 500 Freestyles in a Wildcats’ win at PLU.
Swimmers of the Week: Brady Childs (Willamette, Fr.) stretched his winning
streak in individual events to eight as he won all three he competed in against
PLU on Saturday, leading the Bearcats to a win over the Lutes. He won the 50
Free, 200 Fly and 200 Breast. His winning time in the Fly (1:57.39) was only
nine hundredths of a second off of the school record and is the fastest in the
NWC this year.
Annika Nelson (PLU) won the 400 I.M. and 200 Butterfly (which come back to back)
to lead the Lutes to a dual win over Willamette. Her winning time in the 400
I.M. (5:04.16) ranks sixth in the NWC this season.
Swimmers of the Week: Brady Childs (Willamette, Fr.) won all five individual
events he competed in this weekend, taking the 200 Free, 100 Free and 100 Breaststroke
vs. Whitman and the 200 and 500 Freestyles against Whitworth. His 200 Free time
at Whitworth (1:46.15) is the fastest in the NWC this season. Annie Findlay
(Whitman, Jr., Fair Oaks, CA) led the Missionaries to their first dual meet
wins over Willamette and PLU in over 20 years by winning all four of her individual
events and swimming on two winning relays. Her winning time in the 200 I.M.
vs. PLU (2:21.21) is the second fastest in school history.
Honorable Mention: Carla Fellezs (UPS) won four individual events (200 Free,
100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back) and swam on two winning relays in a pair of dual
meets; Erin Kay (Whitworth) won the 400 I.M. and 200 Breaststroke in a dual
win over Willamette; Troy Schuknecht (Whitworth) won the 100 Free and 200 Breaststroke
in a dual win over Willamette; Brian Juckeland (UPS) won the 400 I.M. and 400
Free vs. Seattle.
Swimmers of the Week: Grant Hayball (Linfield, So., Boring, OR) won
four events (100 Free, twice, 200 Breast, 400 I.M.) and swam on two winning
relays as the Wildcats won two dual meets; Carla Fellezs (UPS, So.) won the
200 Back and 50 Free to lead the Loggers over Pacific Lutheran.
Honorable Mention: Kelly Kannan (Linfield) won three events to lead Wildcat
women to three dual wins; Mindy Galbraith (Whitworth) won five of six individual
events (taking second in the sixth) in three dual meets over the weekend. She
was undefeated in the 500 (400m at SFU); Kyle Sexton (UPS) won the 200 I.M.
and 200 Back at PLU.
Athletes of the Week: Ben Swinehart (Whitworth, Sr., Kaizer, OR) won
both the 200 and 500 Freestyles and was on the winning Pirate relay team (800
Freestyle). Erin Kay (Whitworth, Jr., Roswell, GA) won the 400 I.M. and the
200 Breast and swam on three winning relays (400 Medley, 800 Freestyle and 400
Freestyle).
Honorable Mention: Tucker Jackson (Whitman) won the 50 and 100 Freestyles and
was second in the 200 Freestyle; Randy Webster (PLU) won both Butterfly events;
Emily Cares (UPS) won both sprint events (50 and 100 Freestyles) Jennifer New
(Whitman) won the 200 Butterfly.
Swimmers of the Week: Erin Kay (Whitworth, Jr., Roswell, GA) won four
individual events and swam on two winning relays to lead the Pirates to a pair
of dual meet wins this weekend. She won the 200 I.M. and 100 Back and was part
of the winning 200 Free relay vs. Seattle. She won the 100 Free and 200 Breast
and led off the 400 Medley relay vs. Whitman.
Tucker Jackson (Whitman, Jr., Seattle, WA) remained undefeated in individual
events this season with a pair of wins (100 Free and 200 Free) in the dual meet
vs. Whitworth. He has won six individual races.
