Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Kris Sletten (PLU, Fr., Seattle, Wash.) finished
second in the 100 Free (50.39) vs. UPS and won both the 50 Free (23.19) and
100 Free (50.22) against Linfield.
NWC
Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Lyndsey Downs (Whitworth, Sr., Seattle, Wash.)
led the Pirates past Whitman College by winning the 1,650 Freestyle (19:40.11)
and the 200 Breaststroke (2:34.12).
Honorable Mention: Annika Nelson (PLU) won both the 200 Fly (2:23.62) and 200
Breaststroke (2:36.23) vs. UPS, while winning the 400 I.M. (5:05.52) and finishing
second in both the 100 Fly (1:04.23) and 100 Breaststroke (1:14.14) against
Linfield.
Men’s
Swimmer of the Week: Brent Rice (Whitworth, Sr., Des Moines, Wash.) won
the 100 Fly (51.48) and 200 I.M. (1:54.83) at the CWU Mini-invite in NWC-best
and NCAA B qualifying times. He also swam on the 200 (1:36.40) and 400 (3:34.49)
Medley Relays which set NWC-best times.
Honorable Mention: B.J. Wright (Willamette) won the 50 Free (22.48) and 100
Free (49.32) vs. PLU; Justin Lunday (Pacific Lutheran) won the 200 I.M. (2:04.57)
and 200 Breast (2:29.33) in the Lutes’ win at Willamette; Keith Jarrett (Whitman)
won the 100 Fly (59.83) and finished 2nd in the 50 Free (23.40) vs. UPS; Sherwin
Baghai (Puget Sound) won the 100 Breast (1:02.64) and finished 3rd in the 50
Free (23.28) vs. CWU and also finished 2nd in both the 200 I.M. and 200 Fly
vs. L&C.
Women’s
Swimmer of the Week: Annika Nelson (PLU, Sr., Burlington, Wash.) led the
Lutes to a win over Willamette by winning the 200 Butterfly (2:23.27), the 200
Breaststroke (2:37.15) and swimming on the winning 400 Free Relay (3:55.70).
Honorable Mention: Nadia Markovchick (Willamette) won the 100 Free (56.99),
200 Free (2:03.93) and 500 Free (5:39.74) in the loss to PLU; Alexis Jinbo-Doran
(Whitman) won the 200 I.M. (2:25.41) and finished 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke
(1:11.78) vs. Puget Sound; Susan Olson (Puget Sound) finished 3rd in the 100
Free (58.38) and 4th in the 200 I.M. (2:21.18) vs. CWU and won the 200 Fly (2:36.14
meters) and 200 Breaststroke (3:03.83 meters) vs. Lewis & Clark.
Men’s
Swimmer of the Week: Ryan Freeman (Whitworth, Jr., Redmond, Wash.) won the
50 Free (22.28) and 100 Back (52.57) and led off a winning 200 Medley Relay
(1:37.39) that set a new Whitworth Aquatic Center record on Friday Night. He
went on to win the 50 Free (22.28) and 100 Free (48.88) vs. Willamette on Saturday.
Honorable Mention: Eric Brady (PLU) won the 200 Free (1:59.51), 100 Free (52.10)
and was on the winning 400 Free Relay vs. Whitman; Owen Unbehaun (Whitman) won
the 100 Breaststroke vs. Willamette and 200 Breaststroke vs. PLU; Joe Cerizo
(L&C) won the 50 Free vs. both Evergreen St. and Linfield.
Women’s
Swimmer of the Week: Serena Fadel (Whitworth, Fr., Boise, Idaho) set a new
school record and recorded a national qualifying time in the 200 Breaststroke
(2:25.01) vs. Willamette. She also won the 200 I.M. (2:16.71) and finished 2nd
in the 100 Breastroke on Friday night.
Honorable Mention: Nadia Markovchick (Willamette) won the 1,000 Free, 50 Free
and 100 Fly vs. Whitman and won the 200 Free and 500 Free vs. Whitworth; Lauren
Pawlawski (PLU) won the 1,650 Free (20:19.58), 500 Free (5:56.14) and swam on
the winning 400 Free relay (4:05.62) vs. Whitman; Katie Imberg (Whitman) won
the 100 Back vs. Willamette and 200 Back vs. PLU.
Men’s
Swimmer of the Week: Craig Gonzales (Linfield, So., Carmel, Calif.) led
all men’s swimmers at the Northwest Invitational by winning three events. He
won the 500 Freestyle (4:52.75), the 400 Individual Medley (4:16.98) and the
200 Butterfly (2:00.78).
Honorable Mention: Andrew Gehring (Whitworth) won the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.94)
and placed second in the 200 Back (2:07.64) and 5th in the 50 Free (23.42) at
the NW Invitational.
Women’s
Swimmer of the Week: Amy Singleton (Linfield, Jr, Yreka, Calif.) led the
Wildcats to the women’s team title at the Northwest Invitational by winning
three individual events. She won the 200 Individual Medley (2:18.69), 100 Breaststroke
(1:12.22) and the 1,650 Freestyle (19:20.87).
Honorable Mention: Alexis Jinbo-Doran (Whitman) led the Missionaries by placing
second in the 200 Breaststroke, third in the 100 Breaststroke and 11th in the
200 I.M.
Men’s
Swimmer of the Week: Kevin Wang (Whitworth, So., Redmond, Wash.) earned
an NCAA Automatic qualifying time in the 400 I.M. (4:03.56) and NCAA B marks
in the 500 Free (4:39.78) and 1,650 Free (16:13.64), leading the Pirates to
a 3rd place finish at the University of Washington Husky Invitational.
Honorable Mention: Other NWC swimmers who earned NCAA B qualifying marks - Brent
Rice (Whitworth) in the 200 I.M. (1:55.57) and 200 Butterfly (1:56.41); Sherwin
Baghai (UPS) in the 100 Breaststroke (58.90); Cory Bergman (Whitworth) in the
200 Breaststroke (2:09.00); Ryan Freeman (Whitworth) in the 100 Backstroke (52.76).
Women’s
Swimmer of the Week: Carla Fellezs (Puget Sound, Sr., Millilani, Hawaii)
earned three individual NCAA Automatic qualifying marks to lead the Loggers
at the University of Washington Husky Invitational. She got the marks in the
50 Freestyle (24.08 - which is also a new UPS school record), 100 Free (52.47)
and 100 Back (58.70). She also earned a B mark in the 200 Free (1:55.19).
Honorable Mention: Other NWC swimmers who earned NCAA B qualifying marks - Tag
Diversi (UPS) in the 100 Fly (59.55) and 200 Fly (2:09.57); Michelle Rennie
