Ellensburg, Wash.) helped set a school record as part of the winning 200
Medley Relay (2:02.09). She then went on to win the 200 Free (2:09.42)
and 500 Free (5:44.65). NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: Nathan Smith (Pacific, So.,
Phoenix, Ariz. - Thunderbird) posted season-bests while winning the 50
Free (22.06) and 200 Breaststroke (2:21.07) against Willamette. He also
won the 100 Free (49.02). Jan. 22NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: Bret Schluederberg (UPS, So.,
Chapel Hill, N.C.) won four individual races and was part of two winning
relays. He won the 200 meter (2:02.41) and 100 meter (54.83) Freestyles
against Whitman, followed by wins in the 50 meter (24.38) and 100 meter
(54.46) Freestyles against Whitworth. NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Samantha Kephart (Whitworth,
Jr., Santa Maria, Calif. - St. Joseph) won four individual events and
was part of two winning relays. She won the 100 Butterfly (58.59) in NCAA
provisional qualifying time at PLU, along with the 500 Free (5:20.20).
She won the 200 meter Free (2:11.15) and 200 meter Fly (2:25.72) in the
Bucs win at UPS. She was part of a season-best 200 Medley Relay
(1:53.11) at PLU. Jan. 15NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Jessie Donovan (PLU, Fr.,
Mount Vernon, Wash. - Mount Vernon) posted an NCAA provisional qualifying
time and improved her own NWC-best mark in the 100 Back (59.74). She added
wins in the 200 I.M. (2:17.75) and 200 Back (2:15.62), along with a second
place finish in the 200 Free (2:04.01). NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: Kei Otawa (Willamette, Sr.,
Moscow, Idaho - Moscow) won all three of his individual events at PLU,
including the 200 Free (1:48.61), the 200 Fly (2:08.66) and 200 Breaststroke
(2:16.95). Jan. 8 NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: David Dolphay (Whitworth,
Jr., Great Falls, Mont. - Great Falls) won the 400 meter Free (4:17.27),
took 2nd in the 200 meter I.M. (2:25.37) and was part of the 3rd place
200 Free Relay (1:45.14) at the Orange Bowl Classic. NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Natalie Turner (Whitworth,
Fr., South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - So. Lake Tahoe) won the 400 meter (4:36.68)
and 100 meter (1:01.10) Freestyles, and anchored the winning 200 meter
Medley Relay at the Orange Bowl Classic in Florida. Dec. 4 NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Natelie Turner (Whitworth,
Fr., South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - South Lake Tahoe) posted the NWCs
first provisional NCAA qualifying times this season in the 500 Free (5:08.51)
and 1,650 Free (17:45.52) at the Husky Invitational. Her time in the 200
Free (1:55.01) is the best in the NWC this season, and her 100 Free time
(54.16) is a season best. She was also part of four Pirate relay teams
that posted conference-best times. NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: Kevin Caple (Linfield, So.,
Centennial, Colo. - Heritage) was the outstanding mens swimmer at
the Northwest Invitational after winning the 200 I.M. (2:01.31), the 400
I.M. (4:22.90) and the 200 Back (2:03.01). He also led the Wildcats to
wins in three relays, which helped the Wildcats win the team scoring title
as well. Nov. 20 NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: Josh Parfitt (Linfield, So.,
Damascas, Ore. - Barlow) led the Wildcats to a pair of dual meet wins.
He won the 400 I.M. (4:20.46) and 100 Back (57.63) at PLU, then won the
1,000 Free (10:18.18) and 500 Free (4:57.33) against UPS. He also swam
on a pair of winning relays. NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Jessie Donovan (PLU, Fr.,
Mount Vernon, Wash. - Mount Vernon) posted the NWCs fastest time
this season in the 100 Back (1:00.51) while winning the event against
Linfield. She also won the 200 Free (2:05.12) and finished second in the
400 I.M. (5:11.35) vs. Linfield. She won the 50 Free (25.91) and was second
in the 200 Breast (2:42.49) vs. Pacific. Nov. 13NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Natalie Turner (Whitworth,
Fr., South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - So. Lake Tahoe) won all six events in
which she competed. On Friday she won the 1,000 Free (10:43.93), 500 Free
(5:13.46) and was part of the winning 200 Free Relay (1:40.19). On Saturday
she anchored the winning 400 Medley Relay (4:06.94) and won the 400 I.M.
(4:48.26) and 100 Free (54.17). NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: Andy Stetzler (PLU, So., Kent,
Wash. - Kentwood) led the Lutes to a win over UPS with victories in both
the 1,000 Free (10:30.14) and 500 Free (5:00.64) and also was part of
the meet-clinching win in the 400 Free Relay (3:25.18). Nov. 6NWC Mens Swimmer of the Week: David Lee (Whitman, Fr., Eugene,
Ore. - South Eugene) won all four of his individual races over the weekend
and also was part of two winning relays. He won the 50 Free (23.49), 100
Fly (56.74 and 57.93) and 200 Free (1:50.56). NWC Womens Swimmer of the Week: Lindsay Nixon (L&C,
So., Chino Hills, Calif. - Ayala) won all five of her individual events.
On Friday night she won the 400 I.M. (4:48.41), the 100 Fly (1:01.26)
and 100 Breaststroke (1:12.40). On Saturday she won the 200 I.M. (2:15.45)
and 200 Breaststroke (2:37.73). |
