Fox, Sr., Turner, Ore.) established a new Western Oregon Open meet record in
the pole vault with a mark of 11’-6”.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Reichner (Willamette) won the discus at the WOU Open
with a mark of 142’-5”; Julie Vanni (UPS) won the javelin at the WWU Twilight
with a throw of 121’-9”; Kristen Shields (Whitworth) finished 4th in the 100
at the WSU Open with an NWC-best time of 12.46.
NWC Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Reagan Grabner (UPS,
So., Bickleton, Wash.) won the 3,000 (8:53.67) at the Western Washington Twilight.
Honorable Mention: Jesse Fipps (Linfield) won the 110 hurdles (15.81) and placed
second in the 400 hurdles (56.15) at the Western Oregon Open; Jacob Stout (Willamette)
ran a season best 3:57.76 in the Oregon Invitational; Navin Fernandes (Whitworth)
finished third in the 110 hurdles at the WSU Open in an NWC-best 14.90.
NWC Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Lisa Starkey (Willamette,
Sr., Penryn, Calif.) won the 800 at the Cougar Invitational in an NCAA Automatic
qualifying time of 2:12.34.
Honorable Mention: Amber Larson (Linfield) set NWC bests in both the 200 (25.51)
and 400 (56.70) at the Cougar Invite; Annie Scott (Whitworth) won the 5,000
in an NWC-best time of 17:55.48 at the Pelluer Invite; Carrie Larson (PLU) won
the 400 hurdles at the PLU Open in a time of 1:02.48; Sara Oates (George Fox)
finished second in the 400 at the Cougar Invite in 58.73.

Jr., Freeland, Wash.) won the 3,000 Steeplechase at the PLU Open in an NWC-best
and NCAA provisional time of 9:18.55.
Honorable Mention: Kelly Bertrand (Linfield) hit an NWC-best mark of 49’-7.25”
in the shot put at the Cougar Invitational; Brian Roesler (Willamette) won the
800 in 1:55.44 at the Cougar Invitational; Joel Robnett (Whitworth) won the
100 in 11.05 at the Pelluer Invite.
NWC Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Sarah Zempel (George
Fox, Fr., Rogue River, Ore.) won the shot put (43’-4.25”) and discus (131’-6”)
at Linfield. The shot put mark is a new school record and an NCAA provisional
qualifier.
Honorable Mention: Amber Larson (Linfield) won the 200 (25.75) and 100 Hurdles
(15.23) at the Linfield All-Comers; Jamie Questa (Puget Sound) threw the hammer
150’-9”, a new school record and NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the NW
Relays; Heidi Fuhrmann (Pacific) won the women’s hammer (146’-1”) at Linfield;
Mari Ruiz (Whitman) won the discus (139’-7”) and finished 6th in the shot put
at Whitworth; Kristen Shields (Whitworth) won the 100 (12.62) and finished 2nd
in the 200 (25.82) at Whitworth; Lia Ossiander (PLU) won the 10,000 (39:46.2)
at the Northwest Relays; Jessica Anderson (Willamette) placed 2nd in the pole
vault (10’-6.75”) at Linfield, setting a new school record.

Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Paul Davis (Linfield, Sr., Corvallis,
Ore.) won the 10,000 in a meet record time (31:28.8) on Friday at the George
Fox Distance meet and won the 1,500 (4:03.62) on Saturday at the Linfield All-Comers.
Honorable Mention: Leo Suzuki (Whitworth) won the 200 (22.17) and 400 (48.77)
at the Whitworth Invitational to lead the Pirates to a team win over NCAA Division
I Montana; Chris Bertholf (PLU) set an NWC-best in the 400 Hurdles at the Whitworth
Invitational; Jason Keeler (Pacific) set a Boxer record in the javelin with
a throw of 174’-2”; Tyson Raymond (Willamette) won the 400 (50.63) at Linfield.

Bellingham, Wash.) won the 400 hurdles in a meet record time of 1:01.42 at the
Willamette Open and led the Wildcats to a win in the 4x400 relay (4:10.09).

at the Willamette Open; Kristen Shields (Whitworth) won the 100 (12.61) and
200 (26.05) at the Whitworth Scoring Meet; Monica Scott (Willamette) finished
2nd in the javelin (142-4 - an NCAA qual mark) at the Willamette Open; Tracey
Goldner (PLU) finished 5th in the 1,500 at the Western Washington meet; Jamie
Questa (UPS) finished 3rd in the hammer at the Whitworth meet, breaking her
own school record.

Wash.) won the hammer (185-8 - NWC best) and finished second in the shot put
(45-8.5) and discus (151-10 - NWC best) at the Western Washington Ralph Vernacchia
meet.
Honorable Mention: Bryce McDonnell (Whitworth) won the 100 (11.30) and 200 (22.54)
at the Whitworth meet; Dan McLean (UPS) won the 1,500 at Whitworth in 3:58.80;
Zach Davidson (George Fox) won the 400 H (55.94) and finished 8th in the 110
HH (16.61) at Willamette; Paul Davis (Willamette) placed second in the 5,000

Nehalem, Ore.) won the triple jump (36’-11”) and finished second in the long
jump (17’-6.75”) to lead the Bruins at the meet hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Annie Scott (Whitworth, Sr.,
Ellensburg, Wash.) set a meet record and Whitworth record while winning the
10,000 meters at the Western Oregon Intercollegiate on Saturday. Her time of
37:31.46 was 50 seconds faster than the previous school record.
Honorable Mention: Amber Larson (Linfield) won the 400 meters at the Western
Oregon meet in a meet record time of 1:00.94.

Bellingham, Wash.) won both the 100 (16.01) and 400 (1:02.45) hurdles in NWC-best
times, leading the Wildcats to a second-place finish at their own meet.
Honorable Mention: Kristen Shields (Whitworth) won the 100 at the Dusty Lane
Invitational in an NWC-best 12.47 and also finished 3rd in the 200 in 27.14;
Jamie Smith (PLU) set a school record in the Pole Vault (9’-0.25”) while finishing
11th in the event at the Oregon Preview Meet.

Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Mike Houston (PLU, Jr., Notus,
Idaho) finished 3rd in the 800 meters in an NWC-best time of 1:54.59 at the
Oregon Preview meet.
Honorable Mention: Navin Fernandes (Whitworth) won the 110 HH at the Dusty Lane
Invite in an NWC-best 15.02 and finished 3rd in the 400 IH in 57.62; Fritz Messenbrink
(Linfield) won the 110 HH at the Linfield 5-way (15.93) and placed 2nd in the
pole vault (13’-6”) and high jump (6’-2”).
NWC Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week: Laura Leineweber (Willamette,
Jr., Portland, Ore.) won the high jump (5’-3”) and 100 hurdles (16.41) to lead
the Bearcats to a team title in the Bearcats’ own meet.
Honorable Mention: Kelsey Baron (George Fox) won the long jump (16’-6”) and
triple jump (36’-4.25”) as the Bruins finished second at Willamette’s meet;
Leslie Seelye (PLU) finished 4th in the shot put and 2nd in the hammer throw
at PLU’s Salzman Invitational.

Wash.) won the NCAA Division III national indoor title in the 35-pound weight
throw for the second straight year. His winning mark was 60’-8.75”.
Honorable Mention: Mat Hunnicutt (Willamette) won the steeplechase in an NWC-best
time of 9:25.82 at the Bearcats’ meet; Ben Salisbury (George Fox) finished 2nd
in both the 100 and 200 meters at Willamette’s meet.
