Volleyball Athletes of the Week

Week of Nov. 2-8

Volleyball: Sharon Barnett, George Fox, Jr., Salem, Ore. Barnett totaled 30 kills and 36 digs in six games at the NWC championships. George Fox swept PLU and UPS to win the title. Barnett also had three blocks against the Lutes in the semifinal.

Week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1

Volleyball: Jen Barker, Linfield, So., San Diego, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS. Barker totaled 104 assists (13.0 per-game average) in two matches last week, including a career-high 75 versus conference leader George Fox. Barker also added 21 digs, 1 kills and 1 ace.
Notable - Devon Bakken, Willamette, had 36 kills and 26 digs this week; Kasey Cordell, Lewis & Clark, had 33 kills, 43 digs, 2 SA, 4 BA; Sharon Barnett, George Fox, had 40 kills and 55 digs in two matches (10 games).

Week of Oct. 19-25

Volleyball: Tristan Nicholas, George Fox, Jr., Stanwood HS, Camano Island, Wash. The former JV outside hitter got her first three starts ever in replace of the ill Jennie Rennie and had consecutive matches with 45, 39, and 55 assists, plus a total of 21 digs.
Notable - Kathy Fisher, Willamette, had 10 kills and 26 digs in two matches; Jen Barker, Linfield, recorded 60 assists in two matches last week, both wins, while adding 3 aces, 8 digs and 4 kills; Kara Fox, Linfield, in two NWC games this week totaled 13 kills, 4 digs, 6 BS, and 4 BA.

Week of Oct. 12-18

Volleyball: Renee Purdy, Willamette, Jr., Eugene, Ore. Recorded 59 kills and 45 digs in three matches, all victories.
Notable - Anna Gradek, Linfield, totaled 56 kills in three matches last week, including a road sweep of Whitman and Whitworth; Kasey Cordell, Lewis & Clark, totaled 28 kills, 4 aces, 8 digs, 5 block assists; Sharon Barnett, George Fox, had 28 kills and 33 digs over the week.

Week of Oct. 5-11

Volleyball: Amy and Jen Schultens, George Fox, Srs., The Dalles, Ore. The Bruins twins dominated four matches as George Fox broke the school record with 14 consecutive victories. The Schultens combined for a total 72 kills, 30 blocks, 19 digs and two aces in four sweeps.
Notable - Julie Lines, Pacific, had 32 kills and 40 digs in two conference matches. She also had three blocks and three aces; Joanna Ramsey, Pacific recorded 73 assists in teh two conference matches. She also had 15 digs; Maile Barrett, Lewis & Clark, had 18 kills and 14 digs during the week.

Week of Sept. 28-Oct. 3

Volleyball: Maile Barrett, Lewis & Clark. In two victories, she totaled 27 kills, 34 digs, 3 aces and 2 block assists.
Notable - Gretchen Smith, Linfield, had 27 kills and 25 digs in two matches; Renee Purdy, Willamette, had 22 kills and 23 digs in two matches.

Week of September 21-27

Volleyball: Stefanie Anderson, Puget Sound, Sr., Lopez Island. In three victories, had 31 kills, 35 digs, five aces and only four errors in 91 attacks.
Notable - Jen Barker, Linfield. In four matches last week, all wins, Barker totaled 152 assists (9.5 gm/avg.), 20 digs, 8 kills and 2 aces; Kasey Cordell, Lewis & Clark, had 39 kills, 46 digs, 6 SA, 1 BS, 1 BA in four matches.

Week of September 14-20

Volleyball: Sharon Barnett, George Fox. In two match victories, including one over defending conference champ Puget Sound, Barnett had 29 kills, an attack percentage of .271, 26 digs, five blocks, three aces and an assist.
Notable - Puget Sound's Anna Dudek had 15 and 22 kills (in loss to George Fox), 22 digs and two aces in two matches; Willamette's Rosie Allen had 27 kills in 10 games; Whitworth's Megan Perica had 13 kills in 32 attempts.

Week of September 7-13

Volleyball: Ingrid Lindeblad, PLU, So., Spokane, Wa. In a pair of PLU conference wins against Linfield and Lewis & Clark, Ingrid had 87 assists (55 with 19 digs vs. Linfield and 32 with 6 digs vs. L&C). The 87 assists averages to 12.4 per game, including average of 13.7 per game vs. Linfield).
Notable - Kara Fox, Lewis & Clark, had 43 kills, 2.26 k/gm, 7 BS, 9 BA, 16 total blocks, .84 b/gm.
