Northwest Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week
Feb. 29
NWC Player of the Week: Lindsay May (UPS, Jr.,
F, Richland, Wash.) led the Loggers to a share of the NWC
championship by recording 38 points, 21 rebounds and five steals in
two road victories. She made 26/28 free throws.
Honorable Mention: DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, F) led the Boxers to
three wins by scoring 68 points and grabbing 37 rebounds; Brandi
Loring (Linfield, G/F) totaled 49 points, 26 rebounds and six
assists in three games; Dani Bielec (Whitworth, G) had 34 points,
eight rebounds, seven assists and six steals in two games; Laura
Vertatschitsch (Whitman, G) finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds
and seven assists in two key wins; Kellie Thomas (George Fox, W)
recorded 38 points, 21 rebounds, seven assists and six steals in
three road losses.
Feb. 22
NWC Player of the Week: Sarah Shogren
(Whitworth, Jr., F, Newman Lake, Wash.) posted back to back
double-doubles in a pair of road victories and finished with 35
points, 24 rebounds and nine assists.
Honorable Mention: Angie Straw (UPS, P) totaled 38 points, 17
rebounds and six assists in two wins; Aundi Kustera (PLU, G) had 32
points, eight rebounds and eight assists in two wins; Darby Cave
(George Fox, P) scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the
Bruins' win; Monica Schwing (Linfield, C) recorded 33 points and 16
rebounds in two games; Katie Patneaude (Whitman, G) finished with
33 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in two games; DeeDee Arnall
(Pacific, F) totaled 37 points and 10 rebounds in two losses; Sarah
Moon (L&C, F) had 34 points and 11 rebounds in two losses;
Megan Scheeler (Willamette, F) finished with 25 points in two road
losses.
Feb. 15
NWC Player of the Week: Katie Patneaude
(Whitman, Fr., G, Seattle, Wash.) led the Missionaries to three
wins and a tie for first place in the NWC by tallying 41 points, 24
rebounds, eight assists and six steals.
Honorable Mention: Darby Cave (George Fox, P) totaled 42 points and
22 rebounds in three wins; Tiffany Speer (Whitworth, F) finished
with 37 points and 10 rebounds in two games; DeeDee Arnall
(Pacific, F) had 44 points, 15 rebounds and five assists in two
losses; Chloe Hansen (L&C, F) scored 16 points and grabbed 11
rebounds vs. Willamette; Kendra Victor (Linfield, F) recorded 30
points, 14 rebounds and four assists in two games; Simmie Muth
(Willamette, G) scored 33 points in a pair of losses.
Feb. 8
NWC Player of the Week: Courtney Johnson (PLU,
Sr., C, E. Wenatchee, Wash.) dominated defensively in two Lute
wins, finishing with 23 blocked shots, 28 points and 19
rebounds.
Honorable Mention: Dani Bielec (Whitworth, G) led two road wins
with 43 points, 16 rebounds, nine steals and six assists; Katie
Patneaude (Whitman, G) totaled 27 points, 14 rebounds and six
assists in two road wins; Krystle Mortimore (L&C, G) finished
with 41 points, five rebounds and three assists in two losses;
Kilty Keaton (UPS, G) had 28 points, eight rebounds and five
assists in two wins; DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, F) totaled 19 points
and 10 rebounds in a loss at UPS; Kellie Thomas (George Fox, W)
finished with 32 points, six rebounds and four steals in a pair of
losses.
Feb. 1
NWC Player of the Week: DeeDee Arnall (Pacific,
So., F, Warrenton, Ore.) led the Boxers to a pair of wins in three
games, scoring 73 points (23.7 ppg) and adding 27 rebounds (9.0
rpg) and four assists.
Honorable Mention: Katie Patneaude (Whitman, G) totaled 29 points,
13 rebounds, three assists and three steals in two key road wins;
Lindsay May (UPS, F) had 43 points, 16 rebounds and five assists in
two games; Tiffany Speer (Whitworth, F) finished with 44 points, 14
rebounds, seven assists and seven steals in two games; Aundi
Kustera (PLU, G) recorded 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and
three steals in two wins; Brandi Loring (Linfield, G/F) totaled 32
points, and 14 rebounds in three games (two wins); Carrie Centilvre
(L&C, G) had 14 points, 12 steals, six assists and a rebound in
two losses; Kim Leith (George Fox, W) finished with 30 points and
five rebounds in two losses.
Jan. 25
NWC Player of the Week: Tiffany Speer
(Whitworth, Sr., F, Snohomish, Wash.) scored 73 points, including a
school-record 48 vs. Linfield, and added 20 rebounds and eight
steals in two Pirate wins.
Honorable Mention: DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, F) scored 62 points and
grabbed 17 rebounds in two losses; Lindsay May (UPS, F) totaled 35
points and 24 rebounds in two road wins; Katie Patneaude (Whitman,
G) had 34 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in two wins; Kelly
Turner (PLU, W) finished with 33 points, six rebounds and four
assists in two wins; Kellie Thomas (George Fox, W) scored 22 points
and added six rebounds and three steals in the win over Willamette;
Heidi Jurgens (Linfield, G) totaled 24 points, eight assists and
four rebounds in two road losses.
Jan. 18
NWC Player of the Week: Kilty Keaton (UPS, So.,
G, Sumner, Wash.) led the Loggers to a pair of wins with 33 points,
six rebounds, three assists and two steals. She made 46% (5/11) of
her three-pointers and 100% (8/8) of her free throws.
Honorable Mention: Darby Cave (George Fox, P) had 41 points, 22
rebounds and eight blocks in three games; Kelly Turner (PLU, W)
scored 28 points and grabbed five rebounds in two wins; Sarah
Shogren (Whitworth, F) totaled 38 points and 22 rebounds in two
losses; DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, P) had 30 points and 12 rebounds in
two games; Sarah Moon (L&C, G) totaled 25 points, 6 rebounds,
four assists and four steals in two games; Heidi Jurgens (Linfield,
G) finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four
steals in two games; Deanna Lund (Willamette) scored 15 points in
the loss to L&C; Megan Higgins (Whitman, G) had 21 points, 11
rebounds and 6 assists in two losses.
Jan. 13
NWC Player of the Week: Tiffany Speer
(Whitworth, Jr., F, Snohomish, Wash.) led the Pirates to a pair of
wins by scoring 59 points (29.5 ppg) while making 58% of her shots
(18/31) and 84% of her free throws (21/25). She added 14 rebounds,
four assists and four steals.
Honorable Mention: Aundi Kustera (PLU, G) totaled 33 points and 11
rebounds in two Lute victories; Sarah Laird (Whitman, F) had 23
points, 24 rebounds, five assists and two steals in a pair of wins;
Lindsay May (UPS, F) collected 38 points and 16 rebounds in the
Loggers' split; DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, P) finished with 19 points
and seven boards in the Boxers' win; Monica Schwing (Linfield, C)
had 19 points and five rebounds in a loss; Darby Cave (George Fox,
P) totaled 24 points and 15 rebounds in a pair of losses; Lindsay
Sweetland (L&C, G) finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds in a
pair of road losses.
Jan. 5
NWC Player of the Week: Sarah Shogren
(Whitworth, Jr., F, Newman Lake, Wash.) led the Pirates to the
Ramada Inn-Whit Classic title with 42 points, 32 rebounds, six
assists and six steals in the two victories.
Honorable Mention: Liz Clark (George Fox, P) had 15 points, 10
rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win; Monica Schwing
(Linfield, C) scored 38 points and added 23 rebounds in three
games.
Dec. 26
NWC Player of the Week: Angie Straw (UPS, Jr.,
P, Mt. Vernon, Wash.) led the Loggers to a win over previously
unbeaten Cal State Hayward with 11 points, seven rebounds, three
assists and three blocked shots.
Honorable Mention: Krystle Mortimore (L&C, C) scored 23 points,
a career high, in a loss to Warner Pacific.
Dec. 14
NWC Player of the Week: Tiffany Speer
(Whitworth, Jr., F, Snohomish, Wash.) led the Pirates to their
fourth consecutive win by scoring 27 points and adding 11 rebounds
and three assists.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Laird (Whitman, G) finished with 44 points
and 12 rebounds in two games; Lindsay May (UPS, F) had 22 points,
nine rebounds and one assist in a win over Evergreen; Kim Leith
(George Fox, W) came off of the bench for 32 points, seven assists
and two rebounds in two games; DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, P) finished
with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a loss at EOU; Cedra Fox
(L&C, F) totaled 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in a
win over Cascade; Kelly Turner (PLU, W) had 12 points, four assists
and two rebounds in a win over Northwest.
Dec. 7
NWC Player of the Week: Tiffany Speer
(Whitworth, Jr., F, Snohomish, Wash.) led the Pirates to three
wins, including one over new NCAA DI Utah Valley St., by scoring 73
points and adding 11 rebounds, six assists and six steals. She
played less than 12 minutes in the win over Caltech.
Honorable Mention: Lindsay May (UPS, F) scored 22 points and
grabbed 10 rebounds in the win over Northwest; Kim Leith (George
Fox, W) finished with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists
in the win over Cascade; Laura Vertatschitsch (Whitman, G) had 34
points, five steals and four assists as the Missionaries split;
Lindsay Sweetland totaled 11 points and 14 rebounds vs. Evergreen;
Jessica Denison (Linfield) scored 19 points in a loss to LCSC.
Nov. 30
NWC Player of the Week: Tori Nelson (Pacific,
Sr., G/F, Mossyrock, Wash.) led the Boxers to two wins in three
games by scoring 73 points and adding 14 rebounds and seven
steals.
Honorable Mention: Megan Higgins (Whitman, PG) totaled 19 points,
14 assists, 10 rebounds and seven steals in two wins; Kellie Thomas
(George Fox, W) had 35 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in two
games; Sarah Shogren (Whitworth, F) had 23 points and 16 rebounds
in a loss to LCSC; Aundi Kustura (PLU, G) finished with 24 points
in two Lute victories.
Nov. 23
NWC Player of the Week: Tiffany Speer
(Whitworth, Jr., F, Snohomish, Wash.) led the Pirates to a pair of
wins by scoring 51 points and adding 14 rebounds and seven
assists.
Honorable Mention: DeeDee Arnall (Pacific, P) led the Boxers to a
pair of victories with 43 points and 18 rebounds; Darby Cave
(George Fox, P) led the Bruins to two wins by scoring 32 points and
adding 17 rebounds and five blocks; Lindsay May (UPS, F) totaled 31
points and 17 rebounds to lead the Logger to two wins; Lindsay
Sweetland (L&C, G) finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds in
two games; Sara Wilcox (PLU, P) had 26 points and eight rebounds in
two contests.
