2008-09 NWC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

Feb. 23  

Rochelle Reeves (Pacific, Jr./G Gresham, Ore./Clackamas CC) led Pacific to two victories that earned Pacific their first NWC Tournament since 1995-96, a third place NWC finish and the No. 3 seed in the tourney.  Her 33 points against Puget Sound was a Pacific season high while scoring 16 in the first half. She followed up with 27 points against Linfield. For the weekend Reeves shot 50% from the three-point line and was 10-13 in free throws.

Feb. 16

Claire Ely (Puget Sound, Jr./G Walnut Creek, Calif./Northgate) had 24 points against Whitman, the senior's career high. She shot 50% from the field in two wins against Whitworth and Whitman, which also included 5.5 rebounds per game, five steals and eight total assists.

Feb. 9

Keisha Gordon (George Fox, Fr./G Vancouver, Wash./Heritage) scored almost half the Bruins' points in win at UPS that clinched at least a tie for the NWC crown, with 10 points in first 10 minutes of the second half. Gordon averaged 17 points, five rebounds and made all her free throws in George Fox's two wins this week.

Feb. 2

Julianne Erbe (Pacific, Fr./F Canby, Ore./Canby) played a critical role for the Boxers as they vaulted from sixth to third in the NWC standings.  She led the Boxers in scoring against both Pacific Lutheran and Whitman (18.0 points per game).  For the week, Erbe shot 70 percent from the field and averaged 8.7 rebounds per contest. She helped Pacific run their current win streak to four games, their longest since the beginning of the 2003-04 season.

Jan. 26

Alida Bower (Whitworth, Sr./F  Onalaska, Wash./St. Martin's Univ.) recorded 34 points, including seven three-pointers, in a win against Lewis & Clark. Both statistics are career highs.  Bower averaged 21 points and six rebounds for the week and shot better than 50% from the field.

Jan. 19 

Liz Horiatis (Whitworth, So./P  Woodinville, Wash./Woodinville) played a key role in Whitworth's wins over UPS and PLU this week, helping the Pirates into a tie for second place in the conference. Horiatis averaged 11 points 4.5 rebounds and shot over 60% from the field.

Jan. 12

Molly Fillion (Willamette, Sr./G  Silverton, Ore./Silverton HS/Linn-Benton CC) averaged 17.3 points and 13.0 rebounds, while shooting 50.0% from the field in Willamette's three games during the week. She scored a career-high 27 points against Whitworth on Jan. 9. She earned double-digit rebound totals in all three games and added ten steals to her statistics as well.

Jan. 5

Kristen Shielee (George Fox, Sr./P  Gresham, Ore./Gresham) led the 19th-ranked Bruins to two wins in the Las Vegas Hoopla. Shielee had her first career double-double against previously unbeaten Virginia Wesleyan and posted just the second triple-double in Bruin history against Bridgewater. Shielee also tied a GFU record for blocked shots in the Bridgewater game and had 21 rebounds, two short of GFU record and is third-most in team history. She had her second double-double (third counting triple-double) in a win at Whitman.

Dec. 15

Rochelle Reeves (Pacific, Jr./G  Gresham, Ore./Clackamas CC) scored 20 points, including three 3-pointers and 5-5 from the free throw line, in Pacific's game against Concordia this week.  Reeves also accumulated four rebounds and added two assists to her performance.

Dec. 8

Michelle Krall (Whitman, Jr./F  Poway, Calif./Poway) contributed significantly while Whitman was leading 9th-ranked Wash U. 42-35 early in the second half. Krall scored 17 of Whitman's next 21 points over a span of six-plus minutes to inflate Whitman's lead to 22 points. She hit five consecutive 3-pointers during the outburst, and scored all of her team-high 19 points in the second half. Krall averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in Whitman's two neutral-court victories. Krall was named Most Valuable Player of the weekend tournament, held at Whitworth.

Dec. 1

Keisha Gordon (George Fox, Fr./G  Vancouver, Wash./Heritage) led the Bruins in scoring in both wins during the week with 23.5 points per game. Gordon had 20 points in the first half against Carleton including six 3-point field goals, only one off the school record. She added six steals and a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line to cap off the weekend.

Nov. 24

Molly Fillion (Willamette, Sr./G  Silverton, Ore./Silverton/Linn-Benton CC) was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Fillion scored in double figures both nights and averaged 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She contributed 14 points and 7 boards against host CSU-Pueblo on Friday and achieved 16 points and 14 rebounds against New Mexico Highlands on Saturday.
