LILBURN, Ga. — Three Northwest Conference women's basketball teams found themselves ranked in the Top 25 of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Whitman Blues headlined the WBCA Poll for the NWC, sitting at No. 9 in the preseason poll. The Blues finished 2016-17 No. 9 in the WBCA Poll after reaching the Elite 8 a season ago.
Puget Sound was slated at No. 10, tied with Hope, after posting a 26-3 overall record last season. The Loggers finished last season No. 11 in the WBCA Poll, following a season that saw the Loggers host the opening two roundsof the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.
Rounding out the NWC's appearance in the WBCA rankings was George Fox at No. 22. The Bruins finished last season 21-6 and made a trip to Tacoma to compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament before being ousted by Whitman in the opening round.
The defending national champion Amherst Mammoths are slated as the preseason No. 1.
Whitman will be among the first NWC squads to play in 2017, with a 6 p.m. scheduled tip-off on November 15 at Eastern Oregon.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Northwest Conference saw representation from two squads in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25 as Whitman and Puget Sound received a Top 25 nod from the online publication.
The Blues, who finished last season ranked No. 7 by D3hoops.com, will open 2017-18 as the No. 6 team in the country.
Puget Sound is set to open the year as the No. 17 teams in the nation after finishing last season ranked No. 12.
George Fox is among the "others receiving votes" in the D3hoops.com poll.
Tufts is tabbed as the No. 1 team in the nation entering the 2017-18 season. The Jumbos were the national runners-up last season, falling to Amherst 52-29 in the national title game.
