2008 NWC Women's Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week

Nov. 10

Offense - Jenny Moore (Puget Sound, Fr./F  Kent, Wash./Kentwood) scored two goals and had two assists in a pair of wins for UPS. Moore led a strong freshman class that accounted for four of the Loggers eight goals this weekend.
Honorable Mention - Corina Gabbert (Whitman, Jr.), Liz Mattila (Whitworth, So.), Lauren Miller (Willamette, Sr.).

Defense - Nikki Graff (Puget Sound, Sr./D  Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley) anchored the back row that did not allow a shot on goal in two matches played.  Friday's match was the first time in nearly four seasons that the Loggers held an opponent without a shot.
Honorable Mention - Courtney Porter (Whitman, Jr.), Kelly Baker (Whitworth, Sr.), Kamryn Morgan (Pacific Lutheran, Sr.).

Nov. 3

Offense - Whitney Ramsey (Whitworth, Sr./F Spokane, Wash./North Central) tied for the team lead this week with two goals and an assist in 85 minutes of play as the Pirates solidified their hold on second place in the NWC standings.
Honorable Mention - Jenny McKinsey (George Fox, Jr.), Amy Hasson (Whitman, Fr.), Jenny Moore (Puget Sound, Fr.), Kristina Snaring (Pacific Lutheran, Fr.), Megan Moore (Willamette, Fr.), Sam Lee (Pacific, Jr.).

Defense - Kelly Baker (Whitworth, Sr./D Boise, Idaho/Boise) a center back, led a Pirate defense that limited the opponents to 11 total shots, and only three shots on goal this week.

Oct. 27

Offense - Kelsey Rogel (Willamette, Sr./D Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) earned assists on four of Willamette's six goals to help her team earn two comeback wins over George Fox and Lewis & Clark. All four of her assists were on set plays. Rogel played all 90 minutes in each contest.
Honorable Mention - Janece Levien (Puget Sound, Jr.), Jenny McKinsey (George Fox, Jr.), Jenny Novak (Pacific, So.), Amanda Crawford (Pacific Lutheran, Sr.).

Defense - Nikki Graff (Puget Sound, Sr./D Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley) helped the Logger defense shut down opposing offenses as the Loggers clinched the NWC title.
Honorable Mention - Kelli Gano (Willamette, So.).

Oct. 20

Offense - Alex Batzer (Willamette, So./F Medford/North Medford), scored all three of Willamette's goals during the week. Against Whitworth, she recorded two goals in the second half to rally the Bearcats from a 2-0 deficit before the Pirates scored the game's final goal for the win. Against Whitman, she earned the only goal of the game. For the season, Batzer is Willamette's top goal scorer with five.
Honorable Mention - Mikaela Freeman (Puget Sound, Fr.), Liz Mattila (Whitworth, So.), Jenny McKinsey (George Fox, Jr.), Karli Hurlbut (Pacific Lutheran, Fr.).

Defense - Kallie Wolfer (Puget Sound, Jr./GK Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) posted two shutouts in a pair of wins for the Loggers, putting her goals against average at 0.29 for the season, allowing only three goals in her time as keeper for Puget Sound this year.

Oct. 13

Offense- Janece Levien (Puget Sound, Jr./F Beaverton, Ore./Beaverton) recorded three goals in a pair of wins to help her team remain undefeated in NWC play. Levien played all but 13 minutes throughout the weekend.
Honorable Mention - Lindsey Oakes (Whitworth, Jr.), Samantha Post (Willamette, Sr.), Laura Bressler (Pacific Lutheran, Fr.), Jenny McKinsey (George Fox, Jr.).

Defense - Courtney Porter (Whitman, Jr./GK Redmond, Wash./Inglemoor) played 200 minutes in two road games, posting her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season while making 20 saves against a total of 33 shots.
Honorable Mention - Nikki Graff (Puget Sound, Sr.), Sophia De Graff (George Fox, So.).

Oct. 6

Offense- Mikaela Freeman (Puget Sound, Fr./F Alameda, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) scored four goals in a breakout weekend as the #4 Loggers picked up a pair of wins at home.
Honorable Mention -Jenny McKinsey (George Fox, Jr.), Alex Batzer (Willamette, So.)

Defense - Sally Page (George Fox, Jr./GK Salem, Ore./Sprague) posted her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season in a pair of wins this weekend over Pacific Lutheran and Linfield.
Honorable Mention - Serwaah Fordjour (Puget Sound, So.), Kelsey Rogel (Willamette, Sr.).

Sept. 29

Offense- Janece Levien (Puget Sound, Jr./ F Beaverton, Ore./Beaverton) Scored three of the Loggers five goals this weekend as the #5 Loggers stay undefeated.
Honorable Mention -Corina Gabbert (Whitman, Jr.), Kirsten Cardwell (George Fox, So.), Lauren Kanda (Pacific, So.), Alex Batzer (Willamette, So.).

Defense - Kallie Wolfer (Puget Sound, Jr./GK Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) helped her team to a 2-0 week with three saves and a shutout.s
Honorable Mention - Sally Page (George Fox, Jr.), Kelli Gano (Willamette, So.).

Sept. 22

Offense- Corina Gabbert (Whitman, Jr./F Portland, Ore./Catlin Gabel School) booted her first college hat trick to power the Missionaries past Linfield, completing a Whitman weekend road sweep. Gabbert now leads the NWC in scoring.
Honorable Mention - Lauren Miller (Willamette, Sr.), Ashley Kanda (Pacific, So.), Kirsten Cardwell (George Fox, So.), Laura Bressler (Pacific Lutheran, Fr.).

Defense - Erin Ichimura (Pacific, So./GK Wailuku, Hawaii/Baldwin) posted three shutouts over the week as the Boxers evened their record to 3-3-0. Ichimura did not allow a goal against 28 shots against and held strong as the Boxers outlasted Lewis & Clark and previously unscored upon L&C keeper Kate MacDougall in double overtime. In the process, Ichimura, who is playing her first season of collegiate soccer, lowers her goals against average to 0.97 for the season.
Honorable Mention - Courtney Porter (Whitman, Jr.), Kallie Wolfer (Puget Sound, So.), Lindsey Whitford (Lewis & Clark, Sr.), Kelsey Rogel (Willamette, So.), Becka Doyle (George Fox, Fr.).

Sept. 15

Offense- Jenny McKinsey (George Fox, Jr. F Spokane, Wash./Central Valley) scored two game-winning goals, one on a penalty kick to beat the Oregon Institute of Technology and one 39 seconds into the game against Eastern Oregon University.
Honorable Mention - Corina Gabbert (Whitman, Jr.), Emily Rhode (Whitworth, So.), Emma Triplett (Linfield, Jr.), Laura Bressler (Pacific Lutheran, Fr.), Kimberly Mattox (Willamette, Fr.).

Defense - Kate MacDougall (Lewis & Clark, Fr. Danvile, Calif./Monte Vista accumulated 15 saves in two games this week that helped the Pioneers to two 0-0 ties.
Honorable Mention - Sally Page (George Fox, Jr.), Kelsey Hasselblad (Linfield, So.), Kimberly Mitchell

Sept. 8

Defensive - Liska Havel (Lewis & Clark, Jr./D Wilamina, Ore./McMinnville) was a big part of keeping Cascade without a shot in the Pioneers 1-0 victory this week
