With 46 kills and only eight errors in 121 attempts for a season-high .314 hitting percentage, the George Fox University Bruins scuttled the Whitworth University Pirates 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) in a Northwest Conference women's volleyball match here Saturday evening at the Wheeler Sports Center's Miller Gym.
Lewis & Clark 3, Whitman 2
The Lewis & Clark volleyball team rallied back from two sets down to defeat the Whitman Missionaries 3-2 on Saturday night in Northwest Conference action. The Missionaries took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-12 before the Pioneers came surging back 25-21, 25-17 and 15-13.
Pacific Lutheran 3, Willamette 0
Pacific Lutheran, ranked #18 in this week's NCAA Division III Poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), won it straight sets, but won very close battles in the first and third sets. Bethany Huston paced the Lutes with nine kills. Madisyn Leenstra (Sr., OH, Bellingham, WA/Sehome HS) led Willamette with 14 kills and a .407 hitting percentage.
Puget Sound 3, Linfield 1
Playing its third match in five days and second straight nationally ranked opponent, Linfield gave 10th-ranked Puget Sound all it could handle, but ultimately fell to one of the top teams in the Northwest Conference. The Loggers downed the Wildcats in four sets, 25-10, 21-25, 25-22, 26-24 Saturday night inside Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
