Northwest Conference Runners of the Week
Oct. 17
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Frank Prince
(UPS, Sr., Port Angeles, Wash. - Port Angeles) won the Lewis &
Clark Open, leading the Loggers to the team victory, by covering
the 8 kilometer course in 25:49.4.
Honorable Mention: Ian Batch (Willamette, Sr.); Ty Mears (L&C,
Sr.).
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Carla McHattie
(L&C, Sr., St. Paul, Minn.-Central) lead the Pioneers to a team
victory at the Lewis & Clark Open by winning the six kilometer
race in 22:26.4, setting a new meet record.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Zerzan (Willamette, Sr.); Anna McLain
(George Fox, So.); Shana Shosky (Pacific, Jr.).
Oct. 10
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Carla McHattie
(L&C, Sr., St. Paul, Minn.-Central) set a new course record
(22:03.5) while winning at PLU and leading the Pioneers to a team
victory.
Honorable Mention: Kristi Dickey (Whitworth, Sr.); Anna McLain
(George Fox, So.); Ashleigh Jamieson (PLU, Sr.); Shana Shosky
(Pacific, Jr.).
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Doug Blackburn
(Whitworth, Sr., Evansville, Ind.-Evansville North) was the top NWC
and collegiate runner at the PLU Invitational, covering the 8
kilometer course in 26:18.9 and leading the Pirates to the team
title.
Honorable Mention: Kellen Peters (Pacific, Fr.); Jake Moe (George
Fox, Jr.); Adam Oswald (PLU, Sr.); Alex Henry (L&C).
Oct. 3
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Frank Prince
(UPS, Sr., Port Angeles, Wash.-Port Angeles) was the top Northwest
Conference finisher at the Willamette Invitational, covering the 8
kilometer course in 24:48.35. He took ninth overall, 25 seconds
behind the winner.
Honorable Mention: Scott Overby (Willamette, Sr.); Kellen Peters
(Pacific, Fr.); Justin Brandt (Linfield, Jr.).
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Tamma Carleton
(L&C, Fr., Elk, Calif.-Mendocino) was the top Northwest
Conference runner in the women's competition at Willamette, taking
10th place in 18:20.68 over five kilometers and setting a new
Pioneer record for the distance.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Smith (Pacific, So.) Sarah Zerzan
(Willamette, So.); Joanna Murphy (Linfield, Jr.).
Sept. 26
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Tamma Carleton
(L&C, Fr., Elk, Calif.-Mendocino) edged teammate Carla McHattie
at the tape to win the Linfield Invite, running the 6 kilometer
course in 23:02.
Honorable Mention: Whitney Mentaberry (Linfield, So.).
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Ty Mears
(L&C, Sr., Duluth, Minn.-East) won the Linfield Invitational by
20 seconds, covering the 8 kilometer course in 26:46.
Honorable Mention: Kent Sasaki (Linfield, Jr.).
Sept. 19
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Nick Symmonds
(Willamette, Jr., Boise, Idaho-Bishop Kelly) finished second
overall, only ten seconds behind the winner, at the Sundodger
Invitational. He covered the 8 kilometer race in 24:49, leading the
Bearcats to a team victory.
Honorable Mention: Doug Blackburn (Whitworth, Sr.); Kellen Peters
(Pacific, Fr.); Jake Moe (George Fox, Jr.); Ty Mears (L&C,
Sr.); Brian Woods (Whitman, So.).
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Carla McHattie
(L&C, Sr., St. Paul, Minn.-Central) finished 7th of 265 runners
at Sundodger, covering 6 kilometers in 22:17. She was the top NWC
finisher in the meet and was only 34 seconds behind the winner.
Honorable Mention: Kristi Dickey (Whitworth, Sr.); Sarah Smith
(Pacific, So.); Sarah Zerzan (Willamette, So.); Anna McClain
(George Fox, So.); Laura Valaas (Whitman, Sr.).
Sept. 12
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Joanna Murphy
(Linfield, Jr., Onalaska, Wash.) won the women's race at the
L&C Invitational, covering the 6 kilometer course in 22:20.7,
nine seconds ahead of second place.
Honorable Mention: Sarah Smith (Pacific, So.); Carla McHattie
(L&C, Sr.); Anna McLain (George Fox, So.); Laura Valaas
(Whitman, Sr.).
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Jake Moe (George
Fox, Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) finished third at the Lewis &
Clark Invitational, running the 8 kilometer course in 26:00.9. He
was the top NWC finisher in the race.
Honorable Mention: Kellen Peters (Pacific, Fr.); Ty Mears (L&C,
Sr.); Brian Woods (Whitman, So.).
Sept. 5
NWC Men's Runner of the Week: Doug Blackburn
(Whitworth, Sr., Evansville, Ind./North) won the Whitman
Invitational by nearly six seconds over his closest pursuer from
NCAA Division II Northwest Nazarene, covering six kilometers in
19:22.88.
Honorable Mention: Kellen Peters (Pacific, Fr.); Frank Prince (UPS,
Sr.); Jake Moe (George Fox, Jr.); Harrison Wilson (Linfield, So.);
Ty Mears (L&C, Sr.).
NWC Women's Runner of the Week: Carla McHattie
(Lewis & Clark, Sr., St. Paul, Minn./Central) defeated 58 other
runners at the Boxer Rebellion, running six kilometers in 22:49.77
and finishing more than 10 seconds ahead of second place. She led
the Pioneers to the team title in the meet.
Honorable Mention: Kristi Dickey (Whitworth, Sr.); Sarah Orzell
(UPS, Sr.); Joanna Murphy (Linfield, Jr.); Sarah Smith (Pacific,
So.); Anna McLain (George Fox, So.).
