Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week – Jan. 9-15, 2017

Junior, Guard, Calabasas, Calif. / Viewpoint School

In each of Whitman's weekend victories, Howell finished as the game leader in points, eclipsing the 20-point mark both times as the No. 1/2 Blues remained unbeaten.  In an 87-71 win over Pacific Lutheran, he scored 21 points in only 24 minutes, hitting 9-17 from the field and 3-4 from the line, with 2 assists and a rebound.  He registered one of his best 'across the board' outings in a 90-70 win over Puget Sound, not only scoring 20 points on 6-14 field goals (3-4 on threes) and 5-5 free throws, but also tying for game-best honors with 4 assists and 3 steals while adding in 4 rebounds.  For the week, he averaged 20.5 ppg, 3.0 apg, 2.5 rpg and 1.5 spg while shooting .484 (15-31) from the field and .889 (8-9) from the line.
