HILLSBORO, Ore. — George Fox senior Madison Sorensen and Whitworth freshman Sara Gayer have been named Northwest Conference Softball Pitching and Position Student-Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference announced on Tuesday. This marks Sorensen’s seventh honor of the season

Sorensen had eight strikeouts and no earned runs with only one hit in seven innings of action vs. Willamette in Monday's doubleheader to close out the regular season.  She earned the win in game one vs. the Bearcats.

Gayer served as the Pirates primary run-producer last week, driving in 9 runs in just 4 games. Her 7 RBIs and .500 batting average in Whitworth's final series of the regular season powered the Bucs to a pair of mercy-rule wins over Willamette.
