NWC Honors Fall to Kahler, Vasquez

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Whitworth outside hitter Emiko Kahler and Willamette defensive specialist Elena Vasquez were named Northwest Conference Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. 

Kahler (So., Happy Valley, Ore.) led the Pirates in kills in a pair of road victories over the weekend. She averaged 4.33 kills per set and hit .355. She also provided 4.50 digs per set, including a career-high 22 in the win at George Fox.

Vasquez (Fr., Kingston, Wash.) averaged an impressive 7.43 digs per set during the week with 27 digs versus Puget Sound and 25 digs against PLU. Vasquez and the Bearcats topped Puget Sound 3-1 and fell 3-0 to Pacific Lutheran.
