Calles, Vasquez Receive Weekly Honors from NWC

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Pacific Lutheran’s Kiana Calles and Willamette’s Elena Vasquez have been named Northwest Conference Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Calles (Sr., Anacortes, Wash.) led the Lutes to a pair of road victories over the weekend, extending PLU's win streak to eight and securing sole possession of first place. Finished with a double-double each match, averaging 9.88 assists/set and 3.13 digs/set. Had 47 assists and 14 digs in a 3-2 win over Whitworth before netting 32 assists and 11 digs in a win over Whitman.

Vasquez (Fr., Kingston, Wash.) averaged a solid 7.00 digs per set in Willamette's wins over Linfield (3-1) and Pacific (3-0). She recorded 21 digs against Linfield and then earned a career-high 28 digs in just three sets against Pacific.
