HILLSBORO, Ore. - Willamette's Mason Kelliher has been named the Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for this week.
Kelliher (Wellington, New Zealand) was in goal for all 200 minutes of the first two games, and then played the final 39:58 in the next game, as the Bearcats went 2-0-1 despite playing three games in four days. He allowed just one goal in 239:58 for a 0.38 goals against average. The Bearcats led 3-0 before UC Santa Cruz scored a goal in Willamette's 3-1 win, as Kelliher earned three saves. He added five saves in a 0-0 double overtime tie against Albion (Mich.) for a complete-game shutout. Against Wisconsin Lutheran he entered the game with WU trailing 3-0, but did not allow a goal as the Bearcats rallied for a 4-3 OT win.
