HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Northwest Conference is proud to announce Student-Athlete of the Week recipients for the week ending December 3rd.
Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week – Dempsey Roggenbuck, Linfield (So., G)
Roggenbuck (Marin County, Calif.) led the Wildcats in scoring 21 points in both NWC matchups this weekend. The reigning West Region Rookie of the Year shot 65.5 percent (19-29) and added five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. The sophomore leads Linfield averaging 21 points per game on the season. Linfield knocked off Pacufuc Lutheran, 93-60 and Lewis & Clark, 98-64.
Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week – Madison Salisbury, Pacific Lutheran (So., C)
Salisbury (Puyallup, Wash.) collected a pair of double-doubles to open conference play. The sophomore had 25 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 76.9 percent from the floor in a three-point setback to Puget Sound before netting 20 points and recording 10 rebounds and five blocks in a 12-point road win over Linfield.
Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week – Ryan Grady, Whitworth (So.)
Grady (Gig Harbor, Wash.) posted five individual times that now lead the NWC by wide margins. He set a Logger Invitational meet record while winning the 200-breaststroke with a 2:02.92. He led off the winning 800-free relay with a legal split of 1:42.37, which is the best 200-freestyle time in the conference. He was also part of three winning relays, which all have the best time in the NWC so far this season.
Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week – Hannah Brandow, Pacific (Ore.) (Fr.)
Brandow (Eugene, Ore.) eclipsed the school record, winning the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.89) at the Bruin Invite. She also won the 100-yard butterfly, setting a season-best time of 59.84. Plus, she finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 2:20.22 and was a member of the second place 200-yard medley relay and third place 200-yard freestyle relay.
