HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Northwest Conference is proud to announce Student-Athlete of the Week recipients for the week ending March 25th.
Baseball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week – Ryan Kingma, Whitworth (Sr., LHP)
Ryan (Bellevue, Wash.) held the best offensive team in the NWC scoreless through eight innings. He limited George Fox to a pair of singles and struck out five Bruins. GFU was shut out for the first time this season.
Baseball Postion Student-Athlete of the Week – Jacob Bockelie, Pacific Lutheran (Sr., INF)
Bockelie (Shoreline, Wash.) racked up 6 RBIs and scored five runs with a .455 average and a .625 on-base percentage in a road sweep of Linfield. Bockelie had a hit, run, and RBI in every game of the series with finishing with four extra base hits, including two home runs.
Lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week – Ally Benko, Puget Sound (Jr., GK)
Benko (Livermore, Calif.) made 22 saves and recorded a 57.9 save percentage and 7.48 goals against average in just over 128 minutes of play in two Logger wins.
Lacrosse Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week – Anabel Ohsman, Willamette (So., ATT)
Ohsman (Snohomish, Wash.) scored a school record 9 goals and added 1 assist for 10 total points in Willamette's 18-14 win at University of Dallas. She scored the game's first goal just 1:11 into the game and had 4 goals at halftime. She added 5 goals in the second half. The Bearcats trailed 8-4 with 5:35 left in the first half, but outscored the Crusaders 14-6 the rest of the way. During the game, Ohsman took 11 shots -- all on goal. She also earned 5 ground balls, 3 draw controls and 2 caused turnovers.
Softball Position Student-Athlete of the Week – Cassie Cosler, Willamette (Fr., 1B)
Cosler (Albany, Ore.) batted .429 for the week (3 for 7) with 2 doubles, 2 walks, 3 RBIs and a stolen base, while playing in three of the four games. She provided the game-winning hit in Willamette's 9-6 victory over Occidental when she broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run single in the 6th inning. For the week, Cosler earned a .714 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage.
Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week – Adrienne Powell, Pacific (Ore.) (Fr.)
Powell (Roseburg, Ore.) went 3-0 in singles matches, last week, with a pair of three-set wins. She went 2-1 in doubles en route to a 5-1 overall record.
Men’s Track & Field Field Student-Athlete of the Week – Jacoby Wolfe, George Fox (Sr.)
Wolfe (Newberg, Ore.) won the men's high jump with a mark of 7-0.25 to tie the school record at George Fox. His mark is the national leader by over three inches.
Men’s Track & Field Track Student-Athlete of the Week – Hezekiah Goodwin, Pacific Lutheran (So.)
Goodwin (Sacramento, Calif.) won the 800-meter race at Whitworth's Sam Adams Classic with a 1:59.46 mark.
Women’s Track & Field Field Student-Athlete of the Week – Annie Wright, George Fox (Sr.)
Wright (Granite Bay, Calif.) won the women's heptathlon with 5,307 points to break the George Fox school record and move up to No. 2 all-time in NCAA Divison III. Her score is 507 points better than the national leader in NCAA Division I and 191 points better than the national leader in Division II. Wright moved to 10th all-time at George Fox in the 200-meter and now holds the school record in the shot put.
Women’s Track & Field Track Student-Athlete of the Week - Kennedy Taube, George Fox (So.)
Taube (Hillsboro, Ore.) won the women's 100-meter with a time of 12.13 to tie the school record at George Fox. She also helped the Bruins' 4x100-meter relay team record a new school record with a time of 46.39, which is the national leader.
