National Spotlight Across the Conference: Women's Tennis

HILLSBORO, Ore. --- With spring season well underway and the Northwest Conference Championships around the corner, we took a look at what teams are garnering national attention in the latest polls. In the latest ITA National Rankings, Linfield leads the women at No.25, with Whitman and Lewis and Clark just behind them at No.32 and No.34, respectively.

Linfield: No.27, 11-1, 6-0

Linfield boasts an impressive undefeated conference record so far this season, with an 11-1 overall record. Since their only loss, which came against then-No.18 Trinity back in the middle of March, the Wildcats have surged through conference with their six game win streak, and only two matches left in conference play. Senior Ella Riddle leads Linfield as one of the top individuals in the West, checking in at No.6 in the April 12 polls. Freshman Michelle Uyeda and junior Elsa Harris are also ranked at No.14 and No 24.  In the West doubles polls, Riddle and fellow senior Basia Kopecka are ranked No.4, while Uyeda and Harris are No.9.

Whitman: No. 32, 8-8, 6-1

Whitman has faced a number of ranked opponents this year, falling to both then-No.18 Trinity and then-No.8 Tufts University. The Blue have defeated then-No.30 Lewis and Clark and won their last two matches with two 9-0 convincing sweeps over Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound. Junior Mary Hill and sophomore Andrea Gu are both ranked individually in the West at No.11 and No.19, respectively. Gu and senior Hanna Greenberg are also ranked in the doubles poll at No.6.

Lewis and Clark: No. 34, 9-3, 5-1

Lewis and Clark currently sit at third in conference and has taken on ranked opponents this season as well, including then-No.34 Redlands and then-No.31 Wellesley. The Pioneers do not have any individuals ranked in the West.
