HILLSBORO, Ore. – Eleven NWC student-athletes have been named United Soccer Coaches Association (USCA) All-West Region honorees, the USCA announced on Monday.
NWC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team recipient Liz Griffith (Puyallup, Wash.) of Pacific Lutheran was named to the USCA All-West Region First Team. Griffith helped lead the Lutes to a NWC Co-Champion title and led the conference in assists with nine.
Lutes teammate Leah Magee (Olympia, Wash.) and Willamette’s Shanna Keil (Danville, Calif.) were All-West Region Second Team recipients. Both were named to the All-NWC First Team, with Magee recording nine total points and Keil leading the conference in total shots with 70.
Five All-NWC First Team recipients were named to the All-West Region Third Team. Whitworth’s Sydney Weiler (Spokane, Wash.) led the Pirates defense, with teammate Kelly Wucherer (Woodinville, Wash.) helping head the offense with two goals and three assists on the season. Puget Sound’s Gabbie Berg (Draper, Utah) led the conference in goals with 10 and points with 24, with teammate Tayla MacPherson (Seattle, Wash.) recording three goals and three assists on the season to help lead the Loggers to an NWC Co-Champion title and NCAA berth. Pacific Lutheran’s Brianna Hunting (Kennewick, Wash.) led the Lutes defense and recorded a goal against Willamette in a 4-2 victory.
On the men’s side, All-NWC First Team goalkeeper RJ Noll (Yelm, Wash.) of Pacific Lutheran was named an All-West Region First Team recipient after leading the Lutes defense with a .774 save percentage. Teammate Joe Sammartino (Boise, Idaho) was named to the Second Team after notching nine goals and four assists to total 22 points on the season and earn an All-NWC First Team honor.
NWC Offensive Player of the Year Luck Murdock (Boise, Idaho) of Puget Sound was named to the All-West Region Third Team. Murdock led the conference in total goals with 11 and total points with 25.
