ATLANTA (March 15, 2018) – Whitman senior Casey Poe was named WBCA All-American Honorable mention, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced on Thursday night.

Poe in February was voted the Northwest Conference player of the year for the 2017-18 season before being tabbed a first-team D3hoops.com All-West Region player.

Whitman's leading scorer at 16.3 points per game, fourth highest in the NWC, Poe led the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.75) and free-throw percentage (81.6 percent). Nationally, her assist-to-turnover figure was 62nd among D-III player, her free-throw percentage ranked 81st, a 49.8 field-goal percentage was 66th, and her PPG average was 122nd.

Among her awards within the season, she earned the U.S. Basketball Writers Association D-III women's national player of the week award following a weekend in which she scored a career-best 29 points in a 77-71 victory over 27th-ranked George Fox University and 21 points in a triumph over Whitworth University.

Poe surpassed the 1,000-point mark for a career this season and finished her four years at Whitman with 1,145 points -- eighth all time on the Whitman scoring list and the 14th player in program history to have accumulated at least 1,000 points.

With Poe on the roster the Blues have played in a pair of NCAA tournaments (2017, 2018), won a NWC postseason tournament (2017), and won a total of 82 games, 47 of them against league opponents.
