Ten Named to D3baseball.com All-Region Teams

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Ten Northwest Conference student-athletes have been named D3baseball.com All-West Region selections, the organization announced earlier this week.

All-NWC first team outfielder Connor Bailey of Willamette was the lone NWC student-athlete named to the All-West Region first team. The NWC Player of the Year, Bailey ranked second in the conference in batting average and on-base percentage, helping lead the Bearcats to a 14-10 conference record.

Pacific Lutheran's Jacob Bockelie and Justin Armbruester were named to the All-West Region second team. The NWC Pitcher of the Year, Armbruester ended the season with a 3.06 earned run average and led the conference in strikeouts (121) and strikeouts per game (12.33), while Bockelie led the NWC in homeruns (10) and on base percentage (.497). 

Also named to the second team are Willamette's Justin Scanlon, Whitworth's Nicholas Nerud, and George Fox's Matt Voelzke. Scanlon led the Bearcats offense in runs batted in (35) while recording a .605 slugging percentage – the second-highest for the Bearcats behind Bailey. Nerud led the NWC in batting average (.392), runs scored (43), and hits (71). Voelzke was an offensive force for the Bruins, leading the team in runs scored (38) and hits (52), and recording a .485 slugging percentage.

Willamette's Cole Pursell and Matt Steindorf earned third team recognition. In 118 at-bats, Pursell recorded 36 hits, 32 runs batted in, and a .305 batting average while Steindorf carried a 2.81 earned run average and had 68 strikeouts on the season, averaging 7.34 per game.

Pacific's Casey Brown and Whitman's Milo Mincin were also named to the third team, with Brown leading the NWC with a 2.14 earned run average and Mincin leading in saves with eight, recording 18 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched.

Players were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at their respective institutions.
