HILLSBORO, Ore. – Nine NWC football student-athletes have been named to the D3football.com All-West Region team, D3football announced on Tuesday.
Puget Sound wide receiver AJ Johnson (Tacoma, Wash.) and Whitworth offensive lineman Tyler Adamson (Oak Harbor, Wash.) were named to the All-West Region First Team Offense. An All-NWC First Team Offense recipient, Johnson led the conference in receiving yards per game with 109.6 and was twice named the NWC Offense Student-Athlete of the Week this season. Also an All-NWC First Team Offense recipient, Adamson started every contest for the Pirates this season and helped lead the team to an NWC title and NCAA berth.
The NWC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Linfield defensive back Duke Mackle (San Diego, Calif.) was named a First Team Defense honoree. Mackle led the Wildcats in tackles with 37, assisted tackles with 18, and tackles per game with 6.1.
Linfield offensive lineman Dakota Smith (Tacoma, Wash.) was named to the Second Team Offense after earning an All-NWC First Team Offense nod and starting all nine contests for the Wildcats.
Whitworth defensive lineman Chad Wilburg (Sedrow-Woolley, Wash.) and Pacific Lutheran punter Anthony Louthan (Montesano, Wash.) were both named to the Second Team Defense. The NWC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Wilburg led NWC defense in sacks with 13, while All-NWC First Team recipient Louthan led the Lutes with 245 total rushing yards to average 27.2 yards per game.
Linfield running back Chidubem Nnoli (Beaverton, Ore.) and Puget Sound wide receiver Jewell Day (Olympia, Wash.) were named to Third Team Offense honorees. The NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year, Nnoli led the conference in rushing yards per game with 105, total rushes with 168, and total yards with 945. Day led the NWC in touchdowns with 14 to earn an All-NWC First Team Offense nod while also picking up an NWC Student-Athlete of the Week honor in week two.
Whitworth linebacker Kale Wong (Gig Harbor, Wash.) was named a Third Team Defense selection. Wong, who also earned an All-NWC First Team Defense selection, led the Pirates with 47 tackles and 7.1 tackles per game.
The Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America teams.
