HILLSBORO, Ore. – Five NWC student-athletes have been named United Soccer Coaches Association (USCA) Scholar All-West Region honorees, the USCA recently announced.
For the men, Whitman’s Jadon Bachtold (Sisters, Ore.) was the lone NWC honoree, carrying a 3.5 GPA while majoring in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. In the 2018 season, Bachtold started all 18 contests for the Blues and was named to the All-NWC first team.
For the women, Pacific Lutheran’s Elizabeth Griffith (Puyallup, Wash.) and Brianna Hunting (Kennewick, Wash.) received Scholar All-West Region first team honors. Griffith, the NWC Offensive Player of the Year, boasts a 3.84 GPA while majoring in Elementary Education. Hunting, a Kinesiology major, carries a 3.72 GPA. The junior was also named to the All-NWC first team.
Lutes teammate Rachel Ross (Gig Harbor, Wash.) and Logger goalkeeper Jamie Lange (Lake Tapps, Wash.) were named to the Scholar All-West Region second team. Ross, a Kinesiology major and All-NWC second team recipient, holds a 3.75 GPA. Lange, the NWC Defensive Player of the Year, averages a 3.33 while studying Exercise Science.
All five honorees were 2018 NWC Co-Champions (Pacific Lutheran [W], Puget Sound [W], Whitman [M]).
